Norv Turner will Coach the San Diego Chargers. Sorry guys.
Per NFL.com:
Maybe because I'm still bitter about his failed stint in Washington, but I spent a good time harping on Norv over at Blogging the Boys when it seemed as if Dallas might choose him as Head Coach (I wish!). For instance, did you know:
Redskins HC:
1994 - 19th
1995 - 16th
1996 - 16th
1997 - 19th
1998 - 12th
1999 - 2nd
San Diego OC:
2001 - 15th
Miami OC:
2002 - 15th
2003 - 24th
Raiders HC:
2004 - 20th
2005 - 21st
San Fran OC:
2006 - 26th
See for yourself. The Redskins went 49-59-1 when he was here. 3-8 against the Cowgirls.
I don't know why 58-82-1 buys you a third opportunity, but whatever. Best of luck to the Chargers. You'll need it.

To be fair...
I'd like to see what he can do with this talent in SD. If you replace Irvin (WR) with Gates (TE), you've got the trifecta thing he made a living off of in Dallas.
Plus, he has a dominat defense in place so he will be able to do what he does best, which is not handle the defense at all. If he finds a good DC, this team could be dangerous for the next few years.

If all Norv Turner can do
The Chargers would have been dominant for many years withot Norv.

Don't get me wrong...
But the hire makes sense in that his young QB has the same system (that Norv installed when he was SD's OC a few yaers back) that was carried on by Cam Cameron, who worked with Turner as far back as Washington.
Cottrell, the new DC, runs the same system as Wade Phillips.
For a talented team, a talented young team, they are keeping everything the same in terms of scheme and philosophy.
That is the one pro I can see to the situation.
If I was their GM, things would have happened much differently... and even if they didn't, I still don't think I could force myself to hire Turner.
