Sean Taylor is dead.

Update [2007-11-27 12:10:53 by Skin Patrol]: Memorial information from the Redskins per Redskins Insider:
The Washington Redskins are coordinating memorials for Sean Taylor at both Redskins Park and FedExField. The #21 will be painted in a grass parking area on the right side of the road in front of the guardhouse leading into Redskins Park. In addition, #21 will also be painted on the plaza in front of the Redskins Hall of Fame store on the south side of FedExField. Both memorials should be finalized by early afternoon today. Fans will be allowed to access these areas as a memorial to Sean Taylor and leave any tributes or flowers as they may choose. Information regarding any planned memorial services or donations will be communicated when available.
Per Official Site, ESPN, and elsewhere. He was 24 years old.

My immediate thoughts turn now to his family. Hopefully there will be some opportunities for fans to do something, anything to honor his memory and assist his friends, teammates, and family through this difficult time.

For now, though, my deepest condolences. I am at a loss.

My deepest condolences
I can't pretend to know what Redskin Nation is going through right now, so all I can offer is my deepest condolences and sympathies to all of you folks, the Redskins organization, and most importantly to the family of Sean Taylor.

RIP, Sean.

I cant believe it I just cant believe it
He didnt deserve it by any measure. He wasnt troubled because he was quiet. He wasnt a bad person because he once carried a gun. He was misunderstood by everyone that didnt know him.

May god bless your soul      We miss you!

Can't believe it...
I'm a Colts fan but I wanted to express my condolences to the Taylor family and Redskin nation.  Hopefully whoever did this is brought to justice, and the media focuses on all of the positives of Taylor's life.

My sad condolences
My thoughts and prayers are with Sean's family friends and team right now, and with the entire Redskins nation.  God bless them.  Just last week a fervent Skins fan was lecturing me about how they would have won if Taylor had played, and covered TO.  If that could have only been the case.

Mile High Thoughts...
From Broncos Country, who knows all too well about losing a teammate because of senseless violence.  We are all Redskins fans today!

Our thoughts are with everyone in Maroon and Gold.

From another Broncos fan
I woke up this morning in a good mood.  Now I expect my whole week to be miserable.  I really thought he was getting better.

Sean was doing so well in his life; his little one year old daughter was helping him put some old stuff behind him.  He was also one of the best at my favorite position (safety).

I'll be putting in some prayers for Sean's family and the whole Redskin nation of players and fans.  I'm so sorry this happened to you guys.

What a senseless shame.

Gut wrenching
Just awful news. Especially after the news yesterday that he appeared to be improving... I was shocked when I woke up this morning and heard the news.

Very, very sad.

RIP Sean Taylor
You were a hard hitting superhero freak who took no shit from no one, patroling the Redskins secondary like a Sherman tank ready to unload on the first enemy who dare enter your territory.  You were my type of player.  I'll always remember you for what you did on the field and not off.

It's a sad day for the Skins family.  I'm barely starting to feel this.  You will be missed.

RIP 21.

Wherever you are today, I hope you still get to do stuff like this:

From a Fan of "The U"
I will miss watching the ballhawking, playmaking, hard-hitting safety who helped solidify the Washington Redskins defense in the pros and wreaked havoc to opposing schools as a valued member of the Miami Hurricanes in college.

Just a horrible shame that this young life was cut short by such a senseless act of violence.

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to his family, his friends, the Redskins, and the University of Miami.

Sorry for the loss
I am a died in the wool Cowboys fan. I feel about most of you the way you feel about me. That is what makes the game fun, rivalries.

It is on a day like today however that football is put in its place, a fun distraction. My sincere condolences to you and especially the Taylor family. RIP

My Condolences
As a Cowboys fan, you know I want to see you Redskins lose every time you take the field.

However, I can only at this time offer you my deepest condolences for this loss.

i shed my first tear for a redskin today...
i've lost family members to unnecessary violence. so young. so sad. i'd rather honor his memory with remembering how good a player he was. i can remember that 14-13 terrible loss to the redskins. 3rd and short with the game on the line and bledsoe typically ignores TO and throws it to Terry Glenn....WHAM! here comes sean taylor. total separation. ball goes one way. terry glenn goes another. ballgame. RIP sean taylor.

RIP Sean Taylor
God be w/ his family and friends. A young man who was turning the corner. He was perfect example of a man rising over early problems in life.

A great player and an even a better human

Condolences
The 49ers community certainly sends its condolences.  It's little consolation to Sean's family, but we can only hope they bring the killer to justice.

Terrible
This is just terrible.  I'm a Cowboys' fan and this news is heartbreaking.  As much as I didn't like seeing #21 on the field against Dallas, you gotta respect a player that caliber that was just now getting his life in order.  The series between the two teams will be hard to watch the next couple of seasons knowing that someone is missing.  My condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and teammates.

by Volorado on Nov 27, 2007 12:05 PM EST reply actions

I already posted and probably will again
The more you hear from his teammates, the more you realize that there was a great side to Sean Taylor that the fans and the media will unfortunately never get to know.

Damn this is hard.

Class
As a redskin fan I want to extend my hand and say thanks to the many fans out there who aren't redskin fans, especially the cowboy ones for showing so much class and heart. This has been far harder on me than I thought it would..I guess that speaks to the Man who has passed.

by CptChaosSidekick on Nov 27, 2007 12:38 PM EST reply actions

I second that.
Thanks for understanding that this rises far above our petty rivalries.

Simply tragic
As a Cowboys fan, Sean Taylor was a player I feared. Cowboys fans are taught to hate Redskins players, and we reserve our venom for the best Redskins players, the guys who we knew were great and could wreck us on the  field. Sean Taylor was that kind of player for me.

Now, I realize how cheap and fleeting those feelings are becasue I feel nothing but grief for his passing and sympathy and pain for the Redskins organization and fans. When I read about his recently having a child and how his life was transformed by that event, and I think about all he could have achieved on the field and off the field, it pains me.

Hold tight Redskins fans, someday the grief and shock will pass, and you can remember the times that he was here, no matter how brief. It's impossible to cheat mortality but you can be immortal as long as someone carries your memory forward. I feel certain that you guys will do that, and Sean Taylor will always be remembered.

My condolences
I am a Cowboys fan, but I just wanted to extend my condolences to all you 'Skins fans here at Hogs Haven, to the Redskins organization, and to Sean's family. What a horrible, senseless, tragedy that leaves one at a loss for words.

Sean Taylor was one hell of a football player. The dude scared me when he was patrolling your secondary because he hit so hard I was afraid he was going take some of our receivers out of the game or make them skittish. The guy was a beast. And from what I have read, he was a hell of a person off the football field as well. This is just a horrible loss. I am so, so sorry.

As meaningless as football is right now, I still will be cheering for the Redskins come this Sunday.

Go 'Skins!

RIP #21
