Pick from hibachi...

"This one is a no brainer. Should he fall this far, Aaron Curry is the pick. Most scouts will agree that Curry is the safest player in the draft, a sure-thing, future pro-bowler. He fills a need for the Browns who are in the midst of a personal overhaul and can anchor that defensive for years to come. Brian Orakpo is another interesting pick as is Michael Crabtree should he fall, but neither of them compare to Aaron Curry."

Bengals are on the clock.

sugar with the pick...

These guys have needs at multiple places, but Crabtree has proven on the field that he is a huge difference maker in the defensive backfield. They just signed T.J. Houshmandzadeh and the opportunity to pair these two up on game day will be impossible for the Hawks to pass up. Matt Hasselbeck is 33 years old, and if he can stay healthy, probably has 3-4 very productive years left. Receivers do take time, but it says here that Crabtree will be ready to play and contribute from the beginning.

Cleveland is on the clock.

HH Community Mock Draft: Pick #3 - KC Chiefs Select...

2009-draft-300_medium

With the third pick, the Kansas City Chiefs select OL Eugene Monroe from Virginia.

KevinE with the pick:

I really wanted to select a defensive player here since the Chiefs defense each year is consistently laughable. Orakpo is one of those players I would love to select here. Looking at KC's stats from last year, their offensive stats ranked higher (better) than their defensive ones. Chiefs were 4th worst in Points Against and 6th worst in Time on the Field. Offensively, the Chiefs ranked 24th in Yards per game, 20th in passing, and 12th in sacks allowed.

Certainly Thigpen's mobility helped in a reduced number of sacks. Cassel obviously does not have a lot of mobility, which is all the more reason a OL is needed. With a franchise QB and a RB in his prime, it is imperative that the Chiefs provide them protection with that Willie Roaf type monster. For that reason, a 6'5 - 315lb lineman from a school that pumps out solid OL is exactly what the Chiefs need - Eugene Monroe is an excellent addition with very low risk.

Seattle Seahawks (sugar) is on the clock...

HH Community Mock Draft: Pick #2 - STL Rams Select...

2009-draft-300_medium With the 2nd pick, the St. Louis Rams select OL Jason Smith from Baylor.

sugar with the pick:

"Like many 2-14 teams before them, the Rams have plenty of needs. But with the recent departure of Orlando Pace, their cornerstone tackle for the last decade, they have a hole that can only be filled at the top of the draft. Pace was the first pick overall in 1997, and the Rams got 7 Pro Bowls out of him. St. Louis will take Jason Smith out of Baylor to try and fill the hole left by Pace, in the hopes he can keep the QB upright and keep Stephen Jackson in business out of the backfield.

The Rams will stare hard at Eugene Monroe, as they appear rather pleased with the program that produced their top pick last year, Chris Long. But the athletic ability of Smith (he started out as a tight end before switching to tackle after his redshirt freshman year) gives him the kind of upside that teams at the top of the draft lust after."

On the clock (KevinE): KC Chiefs

HH Community Mock Draft: Pick #1 - Detroit Lions Select...

2009-draft-300_medium

With the first pick, the Detroit Lions select QB Matthew Stafford from Georgia.

skinsymets: Everyone knows that QB's are bigger hit and misses than say for example line picks. But Stafford has seperated himself from the rest of the pack somewhat IMO. He clearly has the arm strength and confidence to mature into a great NFL quarterback and with 2 out of the next 32 picks then can already begin to build around him. For me the question is what kind of mentoring will he get with the Detroit.

On the clock (sugar): STL Rams
