Redskins Fantasy Starters vs Vikings
If fantasy football still matters to you at this point, then you're probably set to make some big money. We've all been in a championship game before and naturally, we obsess with every single roster position. If Rex Grossman, the Redskins D, Santana Moss, or Roy Helu are on your roster, you have to start them right?
The Vikings pass D is ranked bottom three in the NFL and for good reason, their cornerback situation is horrendous. I don't know if I'd be able to live with myself if I lost the championship with a horrific Grossman outing. Imagine if you were playing Grossman in your championship game last week vs the Giants when he threw two quick INTS. (Throw the remote..."I F*CKING KNEW IT!!! WHY DID I START THIS F&%KING GUY???")
Grossman is that bouncing ball on the roulette wheel when you have $500 on red. F&CKING LAND ALREADY!" With all that said, I'm a gambling man and would start Rex...only thing I'd be worried about is Jared Allen knocks him out.
Are Any Redskins Starting Today in Any Fantasy Leagues?
- The Redskins defense has been a bright spot this year, but starting them against the Patriots is probably not your best option, especially in leagues like Ken where points and yards against net you negative points. Redskins rank 27th in INTs with 8.
- Anyone on Offense. With Trent Williams and Fred Davis out, how can any General Manager feel good about starting any Redskins player on offense? Roy Helu, maybe? The Skins have the Vikings next week and I don't expect our offense to do much against them either. I'd be doing some Cerrato-esque waiver-wire dumpster diving looking for favorable matchups. (Remember that one year where Kyle Boller subbed in week 16 to throw 4 TDs?? yea, that's how I lost my season. What a sham). Anyway, I was surprised to see only 77% of fantasy teams own Roy Helu.
- Graham Gano - Ah Golden Graham. Nothing would be more exciting if your fantasy season came down to a Graham Gano extra point. The Fedex Field turf is in horrible condition from the Army Navy game yesterday. Personally, I'd be doing an add/drop this week with another kicker.
Redskins Suspensions Have Fantasy Implications
In addition to losing two solid players from our...ahem...high-octane offense, there are other issues that stem from the benching of Fred Davis and Trent Williams. That's right...there are fantasy implications.
When I drafted Fred Davis this preseason, Chris Cooley was still on the board. Dallas Clark was still on the board. Jimmy Graham was still in the board. Simply put, I placed a great deal of faith in the USC grad. His suspension is as much his fault as it is mine. After all, my fantasy team has a far more relaxed policy towards off-field behavior, and I really dropped the ball when it came to petitioning the league to try and align their policy with mine.
If you were riding #83 to the fantasy playoffs, your ride has come to a smoky, hazy stop.
I'm guessing not many teams drafted Trent Williams, but if you have any member of the Redskins offense on it you are affected. If you own any defense the Redskins will be playing in the next few weeks, you are affected.
Today's question: which player's suspension has the greatest fantasy impact?
Which Redskin Offers the Most Fantasy Upside Down the Stretch?
In fantasy football leagues worldwide, the playoffs are quickly approaching. What I always find most interesting about this time of year is how the make-up of fantasy rosters seem radically different than where they started. Teams that were relying on stud starters like Darren McFadden or Jay Cutler are all of a sudden digging deep to find ways to score points from those positions.
Sometimes, fantasy owners are smart enough to draft a couple of guys that they can plug in late in the season in just this kind of situation. Other times, the waiver wire is where fantasy owners have to prevail to bring in the horses necessary to keep plugging away towards a championship.
Inevitably, players on losing teams end up playing a major role in fantasy playoff runs. Maybe a player emerges out of nowhere once a team decides to start playing guys to see what they have. Maybe a rookie or no-name player takes over for a well-known player who had to be moved to the Injured Reserve list. Maybe a bad team finds itself in an easy three- or four-week stretch in the schedule.
The Redskins have a few of these kinds of players, and someone in your fantasy league has either already picked them up or is about to pick them up.
Today's question is which of the middle-tier kind of player will factor the most down the stretch for some fantasy team? I have selected four players that are a bit iffy from week to week, especially from a fantasy perspective. Feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments section.
Which Fantasy Player Would You Rather Start?
It's gameday and Kevin and I are on our way to FedEx Field as I write this. Today's "Who Would You Start?" fantasy question is a little different.
Put simply: Do you have any rules when it comes to owning Dallas Cowgirls? And if you do find yourself with a Cowgirl on your team, do you start that player on days like this?
Which Fantasy Player Would You Rather Start? Roy Helu vs. Miami Defense
It's that time of the week. The Washington offense has been dreadful to watch, but Roy Helu put together an exciting fantasy performance last week against San Francisco.
Would you be willing to take the chance he can repeat that kind of fantasy production or would you put the Miami defense in your starting lineup instead?
The Miami Dolphins defense has been generally horrible all season, but this week they are being dealt a woeful offense.
Something's got to give...
Which Wide Receiver Will Have the Bigger Fantasy Day--Michael Crabtree or Jabar Gaffney?
This week's fantasy toss-up features a pair of receivers that have failed to wow this season. Jabar Gaffney had four catches for 40 yards against Buffalo as the "number one" for Washington. Against San Francisco, the Redskins would seem to be gearing up to try and move the ball through the air, as the 49ers are extremely stingy against the run.
Michael Crabtree, on the other hand, has battled a foot injury since the start of the season. He has been back in the lineup now for a stretch but has failed to truly break out. He had his first touchdown of the season last week against Cleveland and has yet to surpass 100 yards in one game.
If you had to start one of these guys this week, who would it be...and why?
Which Fantasy Defense Would You Rather Start: Buffalo Bills or Washington Redskins?
Every week we pose a fantasy football question that at least one commenter inevitably suggests is a waste of the pixels it takes to post the question. Which begs the question: What about the pixels it takes to ask the question about whether or not the original question was a waste of pixels? Deep...
We have spent all week talking stats and numbers, so instead of repixelizing them, I will leave it to you guys to back up your pick with whatever numbers or analysis you feel best supports your position.
For my money, I am taking the Redskins defense on the road in Toronto. I think a change of country is just what this defense needs right now. A little maple syrup, a couple bottles of Molson's and some free health care is bound to ignite our pass rush and will undoubtedly boost our ability to stuff the run.
Make sure someone tells our boys to be careful before ordering the bacon...apparently Canadian pigs taste different.
P.S. Only Jim Haslett can prevent me from perpetuating the notion that Ryan Fitzpatrick is a notorious impregnator of defenses.
