Redskins Defensive Key vs. Patriots = Edge Contain

One aspect that I was very happy seeing during the Redskins dominating victory over the Patriots, was the Skins defense. In particular, they did a great job controlling the outside. Often, the Pats RB's would receive the hand-off and seek the edge, to only have an OL being shoved backward toward them, which forced them back inside for no or minimal gains.

This edge contain is vital to shut-down the Eagles shotgun read-option with L. McCoy / D. Sproles. Shutting down the running game is a must in the NFC East. The OLB (or SS at times) must contain the edge, then be able to quickly release off the OT if a screen develops. That is half of the Eagles and Cowboys offense (including the RB draws).
Shut down this, then the defense can pin their ears back to get after the QB for hurries, sacks, and tipped balls.

NFC East, here we come! HTTR!!
