2014 Outlook:

Robinson is a Safety with good special teams's ability.  Unfortunately for him though, the Redskins have decent depth at the Safety position in front of him.  You have to think that Ryan Clark, Brandon Meriweather, and Phillip Thomas are locks to make the roster.  Regardless of whether the Redskins keep four or five Safeties on the 53, Robinson would still have to beat out Bacarri Rambo and/or Tanard Jackson.  Robinson will have to really work and show during training camp and preseason that he's improved since last year if he's going to have a fighting chance of making the roster.  It won't be impossible from him beat out Rambo/Jackson, but it would be surprising and I wouldn't bet on it happening.

If he does make the team, I believe the #1 way that Robinson will be able to contribute is through special teams.  He's a pretty good ST's player and he'll have to show value there to have any chance.  Aside from ST's, he won't have an impact on the 2014 Redskins (if he makes the team) unless a couple of the 3-4 Safeties ahead of him get injured.

Roster Prediction: Training Camp Player

I just don't see him making the team.  Robinson is a little undersized and wasn't able to stay with the 49ers or Eagles in his first two years.  He's still young and may latch on somewhere else primarily because of his ST's ability.  Safety isn't the Redskins deepest position, but it's not quite as weak as many people think.  There are certainly 4-5 Safeties ahead of him at this point and that will be a lot to overcome.  Never say never, though.  Trenton, if you're reading this, work your tail off and be ready to capitalize on every opportunity in camp/preseason on Defense and Special Teams.  I'd love for him to prove me wrong, but at this point, I doubt it.

Personal Information:

Trenton was born and raised in Bay City, Michigan.  In 2011, Trenton was voted as a Team Captain of the Michigan St. football team.  The other captain?  Kirk Cousins.  Trenton was originally signed last year in season to spark our abysmal Special Teams unit.  Jordan Pugh was on the team but didn't do as well in the ST's area, so he was released and Trenton was brought in solely for Special Teams.  He was decent there and the unit improved somewhat, though not a whole lot.  He credits his ex-girlfriend with helping him get through the discouragement of being released by two different NFL teams in one year.  He's still close with Cousins.  You can read an interview Mike Jones of the Washington Post did with Trenton here.
