2014 Outlook

Josh LeRibeus has been up and down.  He was drafted by Mike Shanahan and filled in impressively during the playoff game against Seattle his rookie year.  Last season, however, he came into camp way overweight and out-of-shape and never recovered.  Which LeRibeus will show up this year?  I believe he was drafted too high and has been underwhelming thus far.  I've seen nothing that makes me really optimistic about his chances this year other than he's in better shape than he was last year.  I'm still not really sure if he can play in the NFL and we're going into his third year in the league, so LeRibeus will certainly have a lot to prove throughout training camp and the preseason.  Unless he really shows something during that time, I don't really see him contributing to the team at all this year.  Jay Gruden seems to like larger offensive linemen, so that's one thing in his favor, but Gruden also brought in new linemen, specifically Guards, which doesn't bode so well for LeRibeus.  Competition is high and he'll need to really surprise people and open a few eyes to make the roster.

Roster Prediction: On the Bubble

LeRibeus is on the bubble heading into camp.  Personally, I don't think he'll make the team.  There's just too much competition at the position.  Combine that with the fact that he hasn't shown anything yet in his career and is more one of Shanny's guys than Gruden's, I'd be a little surprised if he was on the roster.  Still, he was a third round pick and has good size for the position, so he'll be given a fair chance and he certainly could make the roster.  I just doubt he will.

Personal Information

Josh was born and raised in Houston, Texas.  He was college teammates with Richard Crawford and Aldrick Robinson.  Upon arrival at training camp last year, Josh weight approximately 355 lbs.  And judging by his Twitter account, he really seems to love his wife (or maybe girlfriend) and the Goo Goo Dolls.

For more, here's a really great Hogs Haven interview with Josh conducted by Mark Tyler.
