Assuming Kirk Cousins stays at the number two spot, McCoy is looking at QB 3. The signing could mean something for the future of Cousins though as we will have to wait and see if the team will keep two or three quarterbacks this season. If we do keep three, McCoy is a strong option for a second backup. The guy started just 21 games in Cleveland before the Browns decided it was time for QB Brandon Weeden to take over. Weeden's recently signed with the Cowboys and the Cleveland QB situation is wide open. It makes you wonder if they wish they still had Colt... McCoy then went to backup QB Colin Kaepernick in San Francisco after Cleveland and has never really been given that starting chance since his time in Cleveland.
Looking at Redskins roster as of today, it is a strong three deep set at quarterback. Plus, all three are young with RG III only 24 years old, Cousins 25, and McCoy is 27.
The quarterback situation in DC:
2 Kirk Cousins
3 Colt McCoy
Now, we have to wait and see what this signing means for Kirk Cousins. It could make for an interesting training camp.
Here is Colt McCoy from his twitter profile picture. Looks like he will be a good calming presence for the Washington locker room. Welcome to DC Colt!
