Height: 6'3", Weight: 314 lbs
Strengths: Ferguson is a well-built, well-proportioned strong man from top to bottom. He has exceptionally long arms and quick hands. His limbs are massive. He's pretty quick off the snap and shows good instincts. Has great anticipation when it comes to batting passes at the LoS. Known to be very aggressive, especially in the run game. Shows good work ethic and stays in the gym (gained 40 lbs of muscle in his time at LSU). Ferguson is also very versatile and can play 3-4 DE, 3-4 NT, or 4-3 DT.
Ferguson is especially good against the run. He's very athletic and shows enough that you'd think he could get to the QB more than he does. He has a lot of untapped potential and athleticism, it just needs to be coached out of him. He's also pretty fast for his size.
Weaknesses: Not particularly explosive or quick. Also, doesn't always play with the best leverage as he tends to get too high and let offensive linemen get underneath of him. Ferguson certainly isn't known for his fundamentals and needs some work/coaching. He gets too many penalties.
Perhaps Ego's most glaring weakness is his ability as a pass rusher. After three years at LSU (two as part of a rotation as a reserve and one as a starter), Ferguson has a grand total of one sack. His lack of experience after only one year as a starter will also concern some teams.
Bottom Line: An athletic lineman with good instincts who excels against the run. Strong and powerful with a great deal of potential. Will need coaching and is a bit of a project. Has all the tools, just hasn't shown a great use of them yet. Will certainly need to work on his pass rushing.
Projected Round: 2-3. More likely a third round pick, but could go in the second half of the second round.
