Height: 5’10", Weight: 211 lbs.
Strengths: In his senior season for the Spartans, Lewis recorded 58 tackles (29 solo), 2 interceptions and 8 passes defended in 13 games. Lewis is a great run supporting safety that has good ball skills in coverage. He showed good body control in college and was able to adjust to make tackles in the open field.
Weaknesses: Lewis is small for an NFL safety. Many scouts have labeled him as a tweener because of his lack of size. Some project him to be more of an outside linebacker type of player. Lewis also has issues closing on receivers when he is beaten in coverage.
Bottom Line: Lewis may lack size, but he is an experienced player on a Rose Bowl winning defense, and he will get a shot in the NFL. Someone may attempt to have him play outside linebacker, but he shows the skills needed to play the strong safety position. He also has experience on special teams and provides some value there. His size will cause him to be a later round pick.
