Height: 6' 0", Weight: 202 lbs
Strengths: Gilbert is a very gifted athlete. His movement is fluid and he can fly. His 40-yard dash time was 4.37 seconds at the Combine. His vertical leap was also good at 35.5 inches. He has great footwork and plays aggressively. His ball skills are fantastic. He has good hand-eye coordination which helped him intercept seven passes in 2013. He was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award last season for the nation's most outstanding defensive back. He also has experience as a kick returner.
Weaknesses: One of Gilbert's weaknesses comes from his strengths. His aggressive style of play causes him to bite on too many fakes. His is also weak on run support. He came to OSU with an ego that landed him in his coaches' collective doghouse. He tends to be grabby in tight coverage. That will get him flagged in the NFL. His tendency to lower his shoulder and lunge instead of tackle will also get him in trouble, both with officials as well as his coaches, when he misses tackles.
Bottom Line: Justin Gilbert will be a solid, early contributor to the NFL team that drafts him.
Projected Round: 1
Team He Fits Best On: Steelers, Lions, Titans
