Bench: 28 reps
University of Southern California
Strength: Marcus Martin has great size and carries it well. He is very strong and is able to control the point of attack in the run game, and gets a good punch in pass protection. Martin has great lateral agility and showed the ability to pull during his two years playing guard.
Weaknesses: Martin’s biggest issue is his depth on passing plays. He tends to stay shallow, and take himself out of protection on some plays, but this should be easily addressed. Martin also needs to work on sustaining blocks, especially in the second level.
Bottom Line: Marcus Martin is quickly rising up many draft boards, and some have him listed as the best center prospect available. Martin’s ceiling is enormous and it wouldn’t surprise me if he sneaked into the third round. His versatility makes him appealing to many that have multiple holes to fill.
