Hogs Haven takes a look at NFL prospects heading into the 2014 draft

Nickoe Whitley

Free Safety

Height: 6'0", Weight: 205

Mississippi State

Strengths: Nickoe Whitley is nothing if not tough. In the third week of 2013 season, he tore his ACL. He managed to play the entire year. He even became the hero of the Egg Bowl, against Ole Miss when he sacked QB Bo Wallace on the last play of the game. The forced fumble he caused on that play secured the Bulldogs' victory. He's a very aggressive player and has good hands for a safety.

Weaknesses: Whitley's torn ACL is a weakness. He lacks patience and his aggressive play makes him susceptible to fakes and misdirections. He has committed a lot of penalties for Mississippi State, including throwing a punch that resulted in an ejection from the game against Kentucky.

Bottom Line: Nickoe Whitley would be a good pickup as a free agent. He is a project but with a good deal of upside.

Projected Round: 7-FA

Team He Fits Best On: Redskins, Cowboys, Packers
