Over the last two weeks, we put the fate of the Washington Redskins into the hands of the Hogs Haven Community. Trust me, this was not an easy decision based on past results, and suggestions. We targeted 9 possible areas on the team that needed an upgrade, or that were likely to see action in free agency. Two positions elected not to bring in an outside free agent. Drafting a WR was the pick instead of the available options in free agency, and you decided to follow the same plan as Bruce Allen and re-sign/franchise Brian Orakpo.
The Hogs Haven plan is an expensive one, following in the offseason championship tradition that has been associated with the Redskins since Dan Snyder bought the team. Top free agents like C Alex Mack, S TJ Ward and DE Linval Joseph were in the top two in the voting for their positions, but there were also some mid-tier free agents mixed in. I fully expected to have this reaction at the end of this experiment.
So what do you think, Hogs Haven, has the Community GM helped the team become a contender this year, or doomed the team to another long sentence in salary cap hell? What surprised you, and what would you have done differently?
