The NFL network just named the 4 on the Mount Rushmore of the NFL from the fans - Montana, Rice, Brady, Jim Brown.
These lists are kind of silly. Few sports other than football requires a multitude of team players. Basketball is better suited for single domination from 1 player. Baseball is also close with a great hitter or pitcher. But it's fun to think about the Redskins' greatest four.
The Redskins have 26 Hall of Famers. So pairing down to 4 is tough. Here's mine.
Sonny Jurgenson - 32,000 passing yards, 255 TDs. Quintessential Redskins QB.
Darrell Green - 54 interceptions. One of the greatest cover corners of all time (right there w/ Deion).
John Riggins - 11,352 rushing yards, 104 TDs. Great player. Great personality.
Art Monk - 12,000 receiving yards. I refused to recognize the Hall of Fame until he was inducted.
(Note: Brian Mitchell was my favorite of all time and was probably the best all-around/versatile Redskin of all time).
There were other very deserving players - Chris Hanburger, Sammy Baugh, Dexter Manley, Joe Theismann, Mitchell, etc. But those 4 above really defined Redskins greatness.
FYI, my Mount Rushmore for all NFLers - Montana, Rice, Brown, Lawrence Taylor (just missing were Walter Payton, Reggie White).
