Don't get me wrong, we should absolutely not trade Cousins this season, and for that matter I wouldn't mind hanging on to him for next season as well. But a trade might make sense before the final year of his contract. What do you think his trade value is right now? He has looked good when he has played, but the fact remains he has not seen much playing time. I think he has definitely played above his draft status (4th round), so my guess is that the Skins could get a third rounder for him. If he plays a few games this season, and continues to impress, then I think a second rounder might be possible. But honestly, there is no precedent I can think of where a team traded a 2nd round pick for a backup QB with very limited playing time.
