Report: Redskins Meeting with CB Quentin Jammer Sunday

Donald Miralle

The 11-year veteran will meet with Redskins officials Sunday evening in Virginia.

Per 1067 the Fan's Grant Paulsen, former San Diego Chargers cornerback Quentin Jammer is meeting with Redskins officials Sunday night in Virginia.

Jammer, 33, has spent all 11 of his NFL seasons with the Chargers, and is coming off a 2012 season where he recorded three interceptions and three fumble recoveries. But despite having a nose for the football, Jammer's also been known to gamble. Quarterbacks had a rating of 94.8 when throwing his way in 2012, and that mark the season prior was an absurd 131.8. Jammer also allowed eight touchdowns in coverage last season, which was the second-highest total among cornerbacks.

With the current cornerback rotation the Redskins have, if Jammer signs, he would likely stick to the outside role he's accustomed to while DeAngelo Hall gets more snaps from the slot. Jammer has experience playing inside, but has been used there sparingly in recent years. Hall led the Redskins with 271 snaps in the slot in 2012 while splitting time there with Josh Wilson, Richard Crawford and Jordan Pugh.

Though Jammer has likely already seen his best days in a football uniform pass, this would still be a welcome move by the Redskins front office just days before the NFL draft. The 11-year veteran still has fuel in the tank, and if nothing else, he would give the team flexibility come draft day despite not being the be-all-end-all solution at the position.
