Two league sources told Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee that the 49ers do not plan to use the tag on their starting All-Pro safety, meaning Goldson will become a free agent next month.
General manager Trent Baalke possibly referred to Goldson at the NFL Scouting Combine when he told The Bee: "You can't pay everybody, and you certainly can't pay everybody if you're overpaying others."
If we could make a pickup like Goldson I would be estatic! I think he would be a great addition to this secondary, then the 2nd round pick could definitely go CB or RT, prob prefer CB.
If good ol' Chase could show up and start playing like he was before the injury, the 2nd round pick, and Goldson all made the opening day roster this secondary would be LIGHT YEARS better than it was last season.
What do you guys/gals think about Goldson and the chances we could even afford the contract he would want? I think he is the top guy out there if he doesn't get tagged.
