Is our o/line really as bad as popular opinion says it is ?
The stats say we are currently 6th in total offense . 3rd in rushing yds , 10th in passing , 1st in rushing Avg and we have given up 18 sacks (6th best ) (54 hits 9th worst but several teams could push us to middle of the pack ) ?
Last season we were 5th in total offense 1st in rushing avg and yards 11th in sacks given up
So this has been consistent for 2 years running .
Last offseason 's whipping boy polumbus , 1 sacks allowed all year long .
So what are we looking for from the O/line ? They had 2 bad outings vs the boys and a quarter and a 1/2 vs the vikes .
They protect the Qb and run with the best so what are we trying to gain here ?
Less pressure up the middle ? At what expense ? Superb run blocking ?
Now this isnt all garbage time stats as the Steve Shoup's of the world will tell you . Not 2 years running it isnt .
Is The offensive play calling bad ? Doubt it because our young OC has had 4 top 5 offenses in the past 6 years with 2 different teams
Could it be that fans are frustrated and are scapegoating the o/line because the team isnt living up to fans expectations ?
I am not saying that signing a mack or a beadles isnt worth a look .
what I am saying is our 3 years of lousey , bottom of the pit defense needs an upgrade either at DC or at talent , or both .
