9 games into the season and there have been 0 roughing the passer penalties called against our opponent. None! In this day and age of going to absurd lengths to protect the QB, not one. Despite RG3 getting absolutely pummeled this year. We need look no farther than last week when RG3 was knocked to the ground 19 times and not one flag was called. Is is possible to get 19 clean hits in a game? Sure, but not when his helmet gets knocked off twice and there are at least 4 occasions in which the defenders hit him directly on the knee (they threw one flag on one, convened and found a way to pick the flag up). Throw in the fact that C Baker got called for a penalty for a completely clean hit to the chest on a crucial 3rd down and you really have to raise an eyebrow. Our pass rushers are also consistently held like newborn babies yet we are in the bottom 5 in having holds called against our opponents. There have only been 11 offensive holding penalities against our opponents, 4 were against the eagles and 1 was against Peyton Manning holding Rak trying to recover a fumble. So in our 8 games besides the Eagles, the refs have called 6 offensive holding penalties against our opponents (including 0 the last 2 games, b/c you know the Chargers and Vikes played perfect... not calling a holding penalty against the Vikes is like not giving a speeding ticket to a car going 200 MPH). In fact in the last 4 weeks there has been one offensive hold called on our opponents (Manny Ramirex, Den). 1 in 4 weeks! When our best 2 defenders are outside rushers! In the Vikings game the refs literally moved the ball up about a 1/2 yard after an already beneficial spot to achieve what appeared to be their goal of giving the Vikings a 1st down. I've rarely if ever seen something so blatant. The NFL fined the Skins $36 mil for no legitimate reason, suspend more of our players than anyone, and Goodell would rather jump off a cliff than give the Skins a compensatory draft pick. In both the Minny and SD games there were obvious fumbles that we recovered where the player was ruled down and we were not allowed to challenge. I just watched the Ravens challenge that play Sunday (they lost inexplicably but that's beside the point). The refs seem to use a different interpretation of the rules if not an entirely different rulebook when it comes to the skins. You put these numbers and other events in context and for us as a fanbase to remain completely silent is kind of shameful. Sure none of us want to be perceived as whiners, which is what gets thrown around in the country when you point out any sort of disparity (not just in sports. But the idea that the Vikes game (which I would literally submit for review), or this season has been called fairly just simply doesn't hold up at all. This team is not a world beater but they would almost certainly have won the division if they played in 16 fairly called games. Kyle Shanny can't call plays or manage a game, that too would help us win (perhaps he's rattled knowing that his team will never get the benefit of the doubt), but some of these games are being taken for us, or would almost certainly have different outcomes. I assume that the Raiders fans have already internalized that they have to overcome the refs every game, I am getting pretty close to that. We cannot silently let this continue, it's awful for our team, the NFL, and the sport we love. We should make enough noise that something is done, or to bring the very bias nature of NFL reffing (giving the Steelers a SB in 05, Ravens last year, etc.) to the forefront of a sports discussion.
