Mock Draft 1.0

It's draft season, and I wanted to put a mock draft together now that the Senior Bowl and East-West Shrine games are finished. I'm assuming that Fred Davis and Logan Paulsen are resigned/tendered for this mock.

Round 2 DJ Swearinger S, South Carolina

I think Swearinger is one of the top safeties in the draft and could sneak into the 2nd round, and he definitely won't be there when we pick in the 3rd. Can play both safety positions, excellent tackler, and has good coverage skills.

Round 3 Jonathan Cyprien SS, Florida International

His draft stock has shot up this week and looks like a 3rd or 4th round pick right now. A very physical player that will bring some attitude to the secondary. The combination of Swearinger and Cyprien will instantly improve the safety position for the Redskins this year.

Round 4 David Quessenberry OT, San Jose St

A versatile offensive lineman who can play both Guard and Tackle. He had a very good Senior Bowl week and has the quickness needed to play in Shanahan's system.

Round 5 Kwame Geathers NT, Georgia

A huge 6'5" 350lb NT that will be able to anchor the line and kick Barry Cofield out to DE. I think Cofield has played decently at NT, but Geathers could step in nicely.

Round 5 Kenjon Barner RB, Oregon

A versatile running back with speed and pass catching ability. Also a possibility in the return game. He will be able to excel in the zone blocking system, but is not known for getting yards after contact. Could replace Roy Helu in the screen game if Helu continues to have trouble staying healthy.

Round 6 Sanders Commings CB, Georgia

This is probably to low in the draft for Commings. He is a tall, fast CB that would add some much needed size to our secondary.

Round 7 Marcus Davis WR, Virginia Tech

A 6'3" wide receiver with good speed who could be a steal in the late rounds. If Shanny could develop him into a consistent WR, he would be an absolute steal in the 7th.
