Injuries to Brian Orakpo and other members of the front 7 caused our beloved skins to have problem putting pressure on the opposing quarterbacks. We had to rely heavy on bringing in blitzes to create pressure. often putting or Dbs in tough situations.
while orakpo is coming coming back Pass rusher help wont be the top priory in this off season it def will be one of them, And if can be addressed in the late rounds of this draft would be perfect.
i present to you Devin Taylor out of south carolina projected 5th rounder maybe late 4th
Taylor 6'8 270 pond d end has the ability to play end in a 3-4 or stand up ass a pass rusher or come down as a 4-3 end
South Carolina has become a home for tall, long defensive ends. taylor offers a unique combination of size and overall athleticism. He shows an explosive burst off the snap and is a naturally smooth accelerator. Taylor is a long, athletic ballplayer who gets to the quarterback, pursues relentlessly and truly is a great complement to Jadeveon Clowney. He is a solid player against the run .He also has long arms and can separate from offensive tackles. long strides helps him when he gets in full pass rush go mode
He is not good in open space or with short area agility. and one can argue that he benefited heavily form playing along side d line man such as clowney or even ingram (drafted by chargers) but in fact where not asking him to come in and be the starter jus to be able to sub him in pass rush packages even standing up or off the line.
with a 5th round pick i would not be mad if we took him to help out in our pass rushing situations
