the curious case of Niles Paul

Stay connected for news and updates

As we turn our attention to the post season I wanted to get other fans thoughts on the following. I like NIles Paul. He works hard, plays hard. But I dont see this tight end transition working out so well. As a receiver, despite being quite fast he fails to get regular separation, and his hands and concentration have been suspect from the time he arrived. And he is simply not big enough as a converted receiver to be a truly impactful blocker on the line of scrimmage.

But he is fast, and he has been a tough and strong special teams contributor and tackler. And he was enthusiastically willing to change positions once in order to make the ball club. Why not try converting him to safety? He'd be a big, strong, tough presence back there. Its obviously a tough transition in terms of reps and instincts, but in Lorenzo Alexander and Daryl Young we have two significant contributors to the team who we have converted positions. Why not Niles? Curious to hear your thoughts.
