Where is Tackle Willie Smith who the Skins released on Cut Down Day?

Remember Willie Smith, the Rookie Free Agent Tackle last year who started the last part of the season when Trent Williams was suspended?

Willie did an excellent job.

On cutdown day to get to 53 players the Redskins had a choice for the backup tackle spot. They decided Jordan Black and Mo Hurt were simply better.

The Oakland Raiders and New York Giants decided that they would both like Willie Smith on their team and put in a Waiver Claim for him. The cost for the claim is that someone else on their team would have to be let go. The Raiders won the claim.

Willie Smith is now the Starting Right Tackle for the Oakland Raiders.

Michael Johnson will be in the running to win NFC Defensive player of the week award because Jordan Black gave him a free run at RGIII all game long.

The Superbowl Champion Giants wanted Willie Smith on their team and was willing to cut someone for him. And they have a really good Offensive Line.

I think we all know that our team dropped the ball when evaluating for our backup Left Tackle. This was as bad a decisions as you can get: Your backup LT nearly gets your quarterback killed time after time, while the guy you cut is a starting Tackle for another team.
