Just thought I'd post this for anyone that's interested. If not, just kick rocks.
So after dealing with this knee pain for 5+ months, I finally went in for the surgery yesterday. I thought I was having the OATS procedure done, which is basically plugging unused cartilage into the hole. Only I woke up to find out he did the microfracture surgery instead.
Yes, the first thing that came to my mind was "there goes my shot at the NBA".
In the meantime, I HATE crutches, so I will definitely be packing on the el bees, as I don't see myself moving around too much.
The upside is that I get 6 weeks off work. Since I work nights, I have no real chance to fully explore alcoholism. Well, like I said, no work for 6 weeks. Last night it was JD on the rocks to chase my Vicodin, but tonight I've decided to go with the Disarrano. If I feel up to it tomorrow, I'll venture out to pick up some beer. Prob'ly not a good idea to liquor up every night.
So, anyway, this is what 25+ years of playing basketball on the blacktop, 4+ years of crawling over, around, and through the engine room of a ship, and 13 years of climbing all over trains gets you. Yay.
