Sunday's game marks the first Redskins home game of the season and is of the utmost importance for one BIG reason: The Redskins and Bengals are 4-4 all-time against one another, with Sunday being the 9th meeting between the two teams.
Who will break the tie in this historic NFL series?
But seriously, the Redskins-Bengals game this Sunday will showcase Robert Griffin III's official debut at Fed Ex Field, the first HOME GAME in what we hope is the dawning of a new era of Redskins Football.
The end of this week, leading up to Sunday, gives us fans a short-lived chance to dream: Maybe this will be the first of 100 straight home victories for the Redskins with RG3; Maybe RG3 throws 7 TD's, with 700 yards passing, in the most explosive QB performance in history; Maybe our team just gets a hard-fought win in front of the home crowd.
Whatever happens, the energy at Fed Ex on Sunday should be unlike anything we've seen in Washington in a long time. The excitement of a decent start to the 2012 season, the eagerness to watch RG3 perform on our field in a real NFL game, plus the inhibitions induced by ice-cold beverages, should lead to a raucous, loud, and powerful energy at the House that Snyder Built and around the DMV.
I, personally, will be out of town at a wedding this weekend, and will thus be unable to experience RG3's first home game for myself: the sights, the sounds, the thrills....and I have a simple request from my friends here at Hogs Haven:
Fill me in:
-What are you most looking forward to for this game?
-What are your plans for the game: bar, tailgate, seats?
-What are you expecting at Fed Ex Field?
I want to live vicariously through everyone else for this one. This week is one of those moments for fans: The first home game of our young QB's career lays but a few days in front of us, and until it actually happens, we have the chance to dream all we want about how great it's going to be.
