Memory Lane: Future First Ballot Hall of Famer Champ Bailey and a 2nd round pick traded for Clinton Portis

Stay connected for news and updates

7 of the last 8 years Champ Bailey has made the Pro Bowl. 3 of those years he was First Team All Pro.

Clinton Portis only made the Pro Bowl one year in 2008 since coming to Washington.

Champ Bailey made the pro bowl last year and is STILL A STUD!

Could we use Champ Bailey right now as our Shut Down Corner? Our Defensive Backfield just shot up the charts.

Let's not forget that the Redskins also GAVE UP a 2nd Round Pick in 2004. Let's see if we could have used any of the following players taken after that pick in the 2nd and 3rd round:

Bob Sander, Darnell Docket and Matt Shaub

To me this was the ultimate slap in the Redskins fans face of not knowing the value of a trade. Hopefully, those days are over.

So as people go celebrating Southeast Jerome on his retirement today, I will remember this as one of the worst trades in the history of the Washington Redskins.

I cringe the day 5 years after Champ Bailey retires when he enters the Hall of Fame as a Denver Bronco.
