It's official in Washington D.C. Robert Griffin III is a Washington Redskin.
The No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft, who as of last night was unsigned, tweeted out earlier this morning:
Well people....It's Time to go to Work!!!Off the unemployment line and oh yea HTTR!!!!
— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) July 18, 2012
Several reporters have followed up to confirm that, indeed, RGIII has been signed by the Redskins. It's a four-year deal with a fifth year option, pretty standard stuff with the league's new rookie wage scale, which has made signing rookies much easier. The deal is reportedly worth $21,119,098 over four years. Last year's No. 2 overall pick, Von Miller, signed a four-year deal worth about $21 million over four years.
The Redskins reported to training camp earlier this week so RGIII, who participated fully in the offseason program, will join them. The veterans will report next week.
