Everybody and their brother now have the Eagles as their favorite to win the NFC EAST. The football magazines, the ESPN experts, the ex-players, and Michael Vick
as well. Just about everybody has passed out the Lombardi Trophy to the Eagles yet again before the season has begun. I seriously question the validity of all these predictions simply because after looking at the Eagles off season, I can't see where the Eagles have improved.
I know the Eagles signed their own players to new deals and that's great, except for the fact that those were the same players who couldn't get it done last season. Desean Jackson caught a whopping total of 58 passes last year. I know the Eagles traded for 2 time PRO BOWL linebacker Demeco Ryans. Yea. A linebacker who didn't even play last year due to injury. Is he healthy? Is he in shape? Why did he get traded from a playoff caliber team?
How about this: last season the Redskins
season ended with injuries to the offensive line early in the season, and now, the Eagles have lost a PRO BOWL left tackle before they even begin the first game, and remember, he protected Michael Vick....the poster boy for injuries.
I know Mel Kiper likes the Eagles draft, but how many rookies suddenly make their team a playoff contender. Even Cam Newton's fantastic season ended with 6 wins. Not likely the Eagles will have some rookies come in and finally get the Eagles a Superbowl win.
Eagle fans and experts are going to have to get over their blind loyalty or infatuation for this Eagles team and take a look at their BIG 4 game winning streak at the end of last season, which is the only thing that prevented a 4-12 season. Four wins to finish out the season against four teams, and not one of those teams ended up with a winning record. Shoud we be impressed by 4 wins against equally lackluster teams? Sorry, the pundits and ESPN crew can salivate, praise, and be amazed all day but Michael Vick has never stayed healthy, and never won anything....and the Philadelphia Eagles
are the most over hyped DREAM TEAM once again.
