Week 1 vs the Saints just got a lot tougher (although we all knew this deal would get done).
Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported on Friday afternoon that the Saints and six-time Pro Bowl quarterback Drew Brees have agreed to a five-year, $100 million deal, which makes him the highest paid player in the NFL.
All together, $60 million of the contract is guaranteed. Brees will make an astounding $40 million in the first year of the deal, and a total of $60 million, all of the guaranteed money, in the first three years of the contract.
