This is something I did not see coming in any form. According to Donovan Moore, who runs ssur.org, or ColorWerx, a website that lists pantone values for pretty much all sports teams, the Redskins have reintroduced gold pants into their style guide, and eliminated burgundy pants.
So, this is what has changed in the style guide. (Jersey/Pants)
2011: Home: Burgundy/White, Road: White/Burgundy EXTRAS: Gold pants (with lighter red). All interchangeable.
2012: Home: Burgundy/Gold (correct red) , Road: White/White , Throwback. All interchangeable.
The removal of the gold pants seemed strange, but likely from various people, including ColorWerx himself earlier in the year. Now it appears that they are back, but for some reason at the loss of the burgundy pants, which has been the teams constant over the past 40 years almost. I'm not happy about that. I enjoy the all white look, but not for every game. And the worst part is, they corrected the shade of burgundy in the gold pants, but left the pants stripe incorrect with the rest of the uniform.
To me, this means that the Redskins will be cleaned up tremendously in 2013 or 2014. We already know that the Jaguars will overhaul next year, and it's conventional wisdom that another team or two will, considering Nike had little time to change too much outside of the Seahawks for 2012. Finally this roller coaster can end.
I'll let you all know if anything else changes. Something tells me this whole shuffle isn't over.
