Calling All Football Minds

Steve and I recently got into a discussion about the play of Adam Carriker. Steve claims he's not a good player, while I say he fits good in this system. Steve said he can't play multiple positions across the defensive front, constantly gets blown off the ball, rarely commands a double team, and gets little pressure. Now I showed him video of him playing both the 1, 3 and 5 tech, and also showed him multiple times where he took on double teams, and got penetration on both run and pass plays.

In an attempt to prove his point about the weak play of Carriker, Steve posted 3 videos, all claiming to show how Carriker was abused in the Eagles game from last season. The videos are posted below.

Video 1:

Video 3:

Now, I have already conceeded that the second video, a 28 yard gain by Lewis, was a bad play by Carriker. He allowed his defender to reach his outside shoulder, and could not fight off the block, thus giving Lewis a nice running gain to the right. The first and third videos Steve posted are where I need your help.

I know a lot of you on here are very football savy, and understand concepts, plays, schemes, and responsibilities. Here is where I need your help. Please watch the 1st and 3rd videos, and tell me what you see.

Steve and I will not make any comments until we have some discussion going.

Be honest, and have fun.

Thanks,

Tiller and Steve
