Thoughts From an Unbiased Colts Fan on the RG3 vs Luck Debate

For the last few months I have been following the whole Luck vs RG3 debate as well as commented on a few blogs pertaining to the subject. I have even written a few articles on SB also. Relax Skins fans, I'm not a troll who's come here to bash RG3 or try to convince any of you that Luck is the better prospect. In fact, I'm one of the very few Colts fans who actually prefers RG3 over Luck. When I look at the responses on both this site as well as that of the Colts, I am embarrassed by the ignorant, vitriol that is constantly spewing out of the mouths of Indy fans and how they have treated Skins fans as well as anyone else who happens to like Griffin over Luck. I admit that before this debate was even started, I was all in on the Andrew Luck promo train as him being the best QB in the country coming out of college. That was because I was solely going off of the media hype machine that constantly covered his every move while they blatantly ignored RG3. When I first got wind of Griffin 3, I started watching game film of him to see if there was any validity to what was being said and written about him. The more I watched, the more I was convinced that he very well might be the better of the two standout QBs coming out of college.

When I wrote my 1st article in support of the Colts drafting RG3 over Luck, I received some of the most ignorant, hate filled, asinine comments I've seen from a fan base I can ever recall. In fact, I will even go as far as to say that many of these comments were just flat out racially biased "hate speeches." As a native of Indianapolis, I know 1st hand how racially biased Indy fanatics can be. You can see it in the way Dungy is treated by many of the fans now after he voiced his opinion on why he would take RG3 over Luck. Mind you these same fans thought he was "God" after he coached the Colts to their 1st SB. Now he's treated like an "Enemy of the state" after disagreeing with the 95% media brain-washed sheep who just don't have the ability to think for themselves. Here are two classic examples of the Colts fans at their racially, biased finest in the comment section: http://www.stampedeblue.com/2012/3/26/2904025/enough-with-the-whos-the-better-prospect-argument-the-real-luck-vs

Although I am new to Hogs Haven I will say this in my brief experience with the fans here: You guys are a huge improvement over what I am used to at Stampede Blue. You have made articulate, intelligent, and well thought out arguments on your stance in this debate over who's the better QB between Luck and Griffin whenever you've come to SB to voice your opinions. I feel embarrassed that those of you who have made great points are met with immature, ridicule, and nonsense from Colts fans who have had their mind made up about Luck before they even heard of RG3. For the average fan who can objectively study both prospects and without allowing their emotions dictate their evaluation process, it's clear to see who the better QB is: RG3 hands down. The only reason people say he's a one year wonder is because the media only showed the amount of attention he's getting in "one year."

If you follow his impressive college career from start to finish, it won't take you very long to see that this kid (Griffin) is really special. Yet the common arguments used against him are the same stereotypes that people use against Vick and Donovan McNabb: "He's a running QB. "He's injury prone." And my all-time favorite: "He can't run a pro style offense." I am really sick of that argument because truthfully it really holds no weight. Running a pro style offense in college is not the same as running a pro style offense in the NFL. In college you face teams that might have one or two players go to the NFL. In the NFL you're playing against teams that have the best of the best who came out of college and made it to the "big boy's league." Luck in all his so called "pro readiness" has not seen anything near in college what he will see in the NFL. Judging by the way both QBs have responded to pressure at the college level, I like RG3s chances of being a major force sooner than Luck will be. I'm putting it out there now that I am a huge believer in RG3 and Skins fans will have a product on the field that they will be proud to root for. I'm even picking the Skins to be a playoff team this year. Solid defense. Solid coaching staff. Decent weapons for their soon to be new QB at the helm. A lot to like. A lot to be optimistic about.
