"Well-Spoken"

Definition: (Linguistics) having a clear, articulate, and socially acceptable accent and way of speaking

Can we please stop with the "well-spoken" description of RGIII. The media uses the term often and many on this site have used it as a descriptor for him as well. I'm almost certain that many of you knew exactly what this post was going to be about when you read the story headline. The problem isn't that it is not true, the problem is that it suggest that he shouldn't be or that based on appearance he won't be. The problem is that NO ONE has used it to describe Andrew Luck or any other white QB that has ever been in the draft. RGIII is a college educated man who is currently working on a law degree, what should he sound like? Someone even stated in another post that he has less bust potential than Ryan Leaf and stated one of his attributes that will contribute to that is the fact that he is well-spoken. Wasn't Ryan Leaf well spoken as well? It's a subtle or not so subtle racist assertion ("The black guy knows how to talk"). Both RGIII and Andrew Luck are well spoken, but only one of them is referred to as well-spoken. It's like saying RGIII has feet. Why in the world would that need to be said since they both have feet. Why does being well-spoken need to be an attribute that describes RGIII?
