Some Stats on Our Newest Receivers

First off, as important as just catches, yards, and touchdowns is how many targets a receiver gets. Say two receivers have identical stats: 30 catches, 400 yards, 1 TD, but one is targeted 50 times, the other 60. The one with fewer targets is more efficient. Production and efficiency both matter.

Included below are the total for 2010 and 2011. For comparison purposes, I have included Jabar Gaffney and Santana Moss as well as the new acquisitions.

I'll withhold complete judgment until dollar figures become available for the Garcon and Morgan deals. But, I can say that, ignoring salary concerns, it looks like Morgan is the best of the four (when he's actually on the field). Meanwhile, Garcon appears the weakest of the four efficiency-wise, but his overall production is about on par with Gaffney and Moss. The other positive with the new players is that they presumably have room for improvement, which the old guys (old in two senses of the word) in all likelihood do not. But they'd have to grow along with the rookie quarterback.

LATE ADD:

Eddie Royal, FYI:

28 G, 78 rec. on 154 targets (50.6%), 782 yds (10.0/catch, 5.1/target), 4 TD
