Redskins getting RGIII is in Matt Flynn's hands. Cleveland's dominant draft firepower!

The Cleveland Browns will have one of 2 Quarterbacks:

Matt Flynn or Robert Griffin III

You can take that to the bank. I think we have all seen the ceiling, and it's not very high, of Colt McCoy. If they fail to sign, or do not go after, Matt Flynn then we can all take that as a sign that they will be going after and getting RGIII. They have more draft Firepower than anyone else, with the 4th pick and Atlanta's 1st round pick. They also have a very high 2nd round draft pick.

All indications are that the Rams want Blackmon and Minnesota wants Kalile. Cleveland needs a big time Wide Receiver. This will also cause the Rams to pause about trading with the Redskins to move down to #6. Every team from 2-6 could use Justin Blackmon. That will be a problem with the Rams trading all the way down to #6. Would the Rams settle for the #6 pick this year, the Redskins 2nd rounder this year and next years #1 but fail to get a dominant Wide Receiver. If the Rams move down to Cleveland's #4 pick they almost suredly would still get Justin Blackmon with the #4 pick and probably get either of Cleveland's next 2 very high picks.

As Redskins fans, who want to see RGIII leading us onto the field this coming season, let's say a special prayer like this: "Lord, please make sure Matt Flynn signs with Cleveland. Thank you."

Jeff Fisher is on record saying that their top priority is to protect Sam Bradford so getting a top WR is NOT their top priority but getting a franchise LT is and they can still get one at #6 with Reiff or Martin.
I think the Browns are more in need of a #1 WR than Rams and they want Blackmon at 4 but could take RG3 if he fell to 4. I think most people think that the Browns are desperate for a QB but i dont see that

Yeah

It would benefit them from trading down 4 spots, and still being able to select Reiff or Martin. FA is going to give us all a helluva a clue as to what will happen in April

consider this also...

Absolutely! Jeff Fisher is a defensive-minded coach, who, along with Gregg Williams (who should have been our HC years ago), know the importance of a pressure defense. I agree with Wes Bunting – LSU DT Michael Brockers

“Brockers has the talent to develop into an All-Pro caliber lineman for the Rams and they can always add a receiver with their additional picks from the Redskins later in the draft.”

So, the Rams would have many options available to them if they traded down to #6.

Saw somewhere

that Holmgren likes QB’s with some experience so he’d be looking at Flynn to replace Colt thereby not wasting a high pick on a rookie. That would work for me. Of course that depends on whether or not Flynn follows his OC to Miami.

Miami owner want to sign Peyton Manning when he is released he is their top priority and Flynn is their plan B, so if Manning lands in Miami, maybe Flynn sign with Browns??

The dream scenerio

Cleveland signs Flynn and Phins sign Manning. If that were to happen we have a good chance of acquiring Griffin without sacrificing as many picks. Still may need to trade up with a team ahead of us but prpabably wouldn’t cost as much.

I'm not sure the new Miami HC...

signed on to just let Manning run the show on offense. How many times have we heard the expression "He is going to bring in his own guys"? That relates to HCs as well. The best way to implement the offense he has been overseeing is for Philbin to bring in Flynn. Yes, Ireland is there as GM and will run operations. But I can’t believe that, during interviews for the HC job, they did not discuss how the team would proceed. If Ireland told Philbin they were strong contenders for Manning, would Philbin want the job. And, how does it look to hire a guy, then sign people who don’t fit his system. Ridiculous!

Flynn will be in Miami. Skins will trade up #2, to select either RG3 or Luck (if we are lucky). Where Manning ends up? I don’t know. Arizona or Houston…

There is a good chance, that Blackmon falls down draft boards a bit...

I think after the combine, Jeffery and Floyd, possibly even Wright will be on a much similar playing field.

To get Griffin we'll have to trade up.

It will take more than you’ve stipulated to do so.

We’d be better off signing Flynn ourselves and skipping this whole trade up morass entirely. We might even entice the Rams into trading picks next year to move back up to 6 if Blackmon is still on the board. Something like their 2 and 3 this year, 1 and 3 next year. Gives us plenty of picks to form a TEAM this year, and more ammo to trade up next year for a top end QB.

Sam Bradford and I both love that idea.

I changed my last name to Shanahan, and now I'm the new OL Coach.

If Shanny sees RG3 as clearly superior to Flynn, why would they sign Flynn instead of moving up?

there are very few elite qb’s, if one is available you get that guy if at all possible right?

Define possible.

If it doesn’t hurt the team as a whole, sure. I believe it will. We’ll see what Shanallen think.

if we trade up next year

its gonna cost 3 firsts and a few 2s and 3s. specialy if we get flynn and have a good draft like last year. we could very well make a deep playoff run….

If we trade up, it's all on the Vikings

If the Vikings take Blackmon, Cleveland takes T. Rich, TB takes Claiborne, and StL. gets Kalil, which the Rams would LOVE to happen. However, if Minnesota is in love with Kalil (or against Blackmon) then the Rams mightn’t trade to us, knowing they’d get screwed out of both players. If Minnesota takes Kalil, however, Cleveland gets their choice (probably Blackmon) and the Bucs take Claiborne and StL. gets Reiff/Martin/Richardson, instead of Blackmon/Kalil if they trade with the Browns.

I changed my last name to Shanahan, and now I'm the new OL Coach.

I don't see the Browns trading up(especially if it's just tow spots)

Holmgren is cheap(about as frugile as they come with draft picks). he won’t give away the farm for one player. Let’s assume that Holmgren covets RG3. He could sign Flynn in FA, and say that if RG3 drop to #4, we’ll take him(and attempt to trade McCoy). If not, he may be fine with just Flynn.

That actually doesn't sound implausible.

I hope you are right, but I can also see how Griffin is the exception that Holmgren will consider. He did try to trade up to get Bradford, and that wouldn’t have been cheap.

the problem is on film RG3 crushes Flynn.

His arm is so much better, he is super accurate, and of course ultra-mobile. We’re counting on Flynn’s one game to erase the obvious vast difference in talent between the two of them.
