When "all in " and "do anything " to get RG3 arent really so

The last few weeks I have read posts talking about how we should go "all in " or "do anything " to get RG3 . But its funny when it is suggested what if we have to "Ricky williams a draft" or "Hershel Walker " one then the chorus beome "it wont cost that "

That certainly doesnt sound like there is much conviction there , just some political dodging of the question .

I will give you my absolute line in the sand for RG 3 . Swap 1st rounders 2012 , both 2nd round picks and 3rd round picks in 2013 plus the 1st rounder in 2013 . That is a huge price . . Now do you leave us with only 4-7th rounders till 2014 ? Do you give up all 9 picks this draft plus 1 or 2 in the following one ?

I mean is "all in " really "all in " or is it jibber, jabber ?

The draft chart is obsolete here and doesnt deal with the market . Now can the market change for RG3 ? Sure . It could be way cheaper depending on free agency . My question is if Flynn , Manning etc as free agents arent good enough for us what makes you think they are for our competition ?

If Flynn is a product of his system, is lucky ETC . dont you think the miami's and browns' of the world know this ?

The price for RG3 could get high . To dismiss that is foolish

To say you are "all in " and " we should do anything to get RG3 " and not say you would "Ricky Williams " a draft is weak and simply a dodge . Either you are or you arent "all in "

I would be thrilled to have RG3 . I think he is a franchise type qb easily . I think the FO should make a run to get him . I am not in favor of being stupid .

it is a all in to save this franchise

almost every team does it sooner or later. and the ones who dont. have fans wishing their team owners had the balls to make a move to get better. i think most us redskin fans just want the endless coaching change to stop. and shanahan has rebuilt this team for his system more then any other coach then i can remember. so if he plays it safe and keeps losing he will be gone in 2 years max. that will hurt the franchise even more then the lose of 7 draft picks imo.

For the sake of discussion...

How would the idea of giving up our entire draft this year to trade up for RGIII sit with folks?

Are 2-7 this year more valuable than 1-7 next year?

no,

so does that make you an "all inner "?

by skinsdad62 on Feb 3, 2012 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

I, for one, have not promoted "all in" for RG3...

that type of insanity belongs to discussions for Andrew Luck.

A strong offer for RG3 is demanded, yet NO RW type, since there are other options, most obviously next years crop. I would throw up if we have to wait until next year, BUT if the cost becomes to high, then we can fall back.

When you give up 2012 1st, 2nd, and 2013 1st and 3rd

That is a significant amount to give up. Just think last year Most people felt Atlanta went all in for Julio Jones but it really was not all of their picks they essentially gave up a 2nd last year and a 1st this year, with 2 4ths one in both years. that was 5 picks for 1 player a plus 4 for the Browns they got in 2011 WRGreg Little with Atlanta’s 2nd rd pick a starter, and FB Owen Marecic a back up/depth player. And they will get probably another starter and backup this year out of the deal

I would take RGIII

If he fell to number six, but I would also listen to offers if he did fall to us at six. I will go on record as saying I am not all in on any one player. I will go all in on trading back and picking up at least another second round pick; maybe more. Regardless if we did get RGIII, he is going to sit a year, probably behind Rex, and we will probably suffer another 5-11 or 6-10 season. That would benefit the team we went all in with as they couold draft another stud in the top ten.

Griffin is not going to sit next year.

Especially not if he is behind Rex Grossman. He is accurate, athletic, intelligent and has 3 1/2 years of football experience behind him. As we have seen recently, just because a player comes from a non-NFL style offense in college, it doesn’t mean he will sit out his first year.

There is no chance that if you make that type of trade to get RG3

that he sit and learn behind Rex, what would he learn how to throw picks??? I dont even want Rex on the roster next year cause he might teach bad habits. But after watching Griffin III he is very careful with the football

Dude sits at most the first 3 games

He is smart enough to pick it up in that amount of time + offseason. And to ease him in they would give him an easy play script to start off. If we get him or any other rookie their will be scripted plays for when he goes in, no matter the game situation

RG3

Is a must get QB within reason of corse , if we swap 1st round give a 2nd and 3rd round and in 2013 give a 3rd and 5th should be enough if not then we might have to wait . But i have a sneaky feeling we have a trade almost in place with indy or stl rams , we will get either luck or RG3 . I for one rather have RG3 by far because i think he is a much better QB than luck but not by that much more . I think RG3 is way better of a scrambler that can by more time in the pocket and throw better as well , RG3 can make plays i think better than luck would and if we do get RG3 he will win the rookie of the year i bet . RG3 is like another cam newton and i think he will light up the passing game like we never seen before in washington watch in see .

I've been on the RGIII bandwagon for a long time.

This is a hard question to answer, but, as of now, I would be comfortable exchanging our 2012 1st & 3rd, and our 2013 1st & 2nd. If it comes to it, I would lean towards including our 2012 2nd round pick. That’s 4-5 quality picks for one Franchise QB. That’s not an easy decision, but when you think about how important QBs are to their teams in today’s league, especially elite QBs, it makes the decision easier and it would be the best choice for this franchise.

Of course, this is pre-Free agency and we have a long time to know where we stand in this discussion. I do not think we will have to spend that much, but if I’m wrong, than I would still be comfortable trading the mentioned draft picks.

With draft picks at such a premium these days

and the Rams only having to move back 4 spots, if they make a trade with us, I think the price will be much less than a Ricky Williams type trade.

2012 – swap 1st’s, 2nd, and maybe a 4th
2013 – 1st, 3rd

IMO, this is not bad, and it shouldn’t go beyond this.

Cleveland(even though I don’t think they try and move up), could say, we’ll give our 2 1st’s and our 3rd this year, and that it. The better deal would obviously be from us.

I personally disagree

trading with us means the Rams potentially miss out on Kalil, Blackmon and Claiborne, while a trade with a browns ensures they have their choice of at least 2 of them.

by TheDeepBall on Feb 3, 2012 11:23 PM EST up reply actions

way off

if they trade with the browns instead of us not only do they get two instant starters from the 2 first they wont miss out on Blackmon or Kalil

HAIL 4 LIFE!!!!

Seems pretty high

in addition to moving back with the swap of 1sts, we also trade away a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd and a 4th…WOW!

So how to we get an impact WR, at least 2 OL, another TE, a CB and a SS?

FA can address some of that but not enough I don’t think.

by aFan4Life on Feb 6, 2012 4:59 PM EST up reply actions

I'm not "all in" but if the cost isn't so high (like your example) then go for it

Like anything, it really does come down to cost. I’ve seen to many great QBs (Fouts, Marino, Moon, etc) not get SBs so it just isn’t smart to trade too much for 1 guy. It’s a TEAM game!
