Tim Hightower Inducted into University of Richmond Hall of Fame

A nice change of pace story from all the Manning, Robert Griffin, and Haslett stories. Via the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

Tim Hightower intends to repeat history and defeat a deflating injury.

He missed most of his senior football season at Alexandria's Episcopal High because of a broken foot. Most college recruiters stopped tracking him.

"The next thing you know, I've got a scholarship to the University of Richmond, which I knew nothing about," Hightower recalled on Saturday, when he was inducted into the UR athletics hall of fame).

Hightower developed into UR's career-leading rusher (3,712 yards from 2004 to 2007)

Congrats to Hightower. He included a small quote on his rehab:

Star-divide

"Some days are a little bit better than other days. You have those days when you wake up and you're a little sore, and you're thinking you're not doing better. And then you go out there and do something functionally that you couldn't do last week. That lets you know you're progressing."

great news

agree he should be back at a reasonable price I think shanny keeps 4 rb’s anyway

With the injuries we had at RB last year

I don’t see why not. Hell, we went with 9 receivers. I’m sure we can cut one of them loose to open up a spot for another back.

Give me an example of Shanny carrying 4 RBs on the 53.

I see us carrying 3 QBs this year with a rookie (RG3). I also see Helu and Royster as locks and the 3rd being a FA or rookie. I’d give Hightower a 50/50 shot of making the roster.

Has Shanahan ever carried 9 receivers on a 53 roster before this season?

I agree Helu and Royster are both locks, but both picked up injuries fairly quickly considering their play time. Add Hightower coming off this injury into the mix and you have 3 good backs, but 3 guys with recent injury questions. So you add a fourth guy to the mix that won’t necessarily take reps away from these guys, but could play special teams and can step in if one or two of those guys go down.

I'll go 3 on the 53 and 1 on the PS at RB. (injuries happen but there is no 'roster value' in keeping 4).

Last year was an anomaly at WR with 2 rookies (84,85) that would have been plucked off the PS and a one dimensional KR/PR. Right now we have 10 on the roster but I could see 19, 88 (Anderson), 89, 16 being cut/not resigned and 2 WRS added via FA/Draft.

I'd take

A fourth RB over Brandon Banks anyday of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

I think 4 backs is a smart play

why not 4 backs and a FB, that is probably better than our 3 backs and 2 FB approach this year

he will be back

I’m looking forward to the run game this year. As long as Kyle doesn’t go back to calling games like he did early last year and let’s them run. Can’t wait to see hightower / helu

The Beat Box aka skins secondary.

Hightower will be back.

I actually see Royster being the #1 back, followed by Helu and Hightower getting the least of the carries.

Helu is fun to watch, but Royster just gets it done.

I see it as more cushion for the pushin'

I'm doubtful that royster is the #1

But he always gains yards whether it be 1 or 19 yards…Helu is too explosive to keep off the field.

OH YEAH!!!

bring him back, he is cheap

he is a great third down back. Take it easy on him or even just PUP him until we have our first RB get hurt.

Agreed, the RB position gets banged up quite a bit

Besides, Hightower wants to be here, and that has to mean something.
