Photoshopping New Redskins Uniforms
Our friends over at Son of Washington are doing a very cool thing right now. Any Redskins' fan can suggest a new uniform color and logo scheme, and he'll mock it up in Photoshop. Check out the bottom widget on his post that cycles through all the different ideas so far. I love not only the one to the right, but also the yellow helmet "R" in the modern look.
Of course, these uniform changes are all part of the hype of what will happen with Nike taking over for Reebok as the official NFL company for gear. Newsflash, the NFL would never allow sweeping changes like this, but as Ken Meringolo always says, "A girl can dream."

change is bad
I like the 70s look Skins unis. Seemed more butch. Don’t want us to look like Seminoles.
Oh…and I still sing “scalp em” not the new version.
Helmut. What's so Non-changing from that Magnificent Indian Face to a Tmohawk?
Most arent naive to not know it is a reference.
The name Redskins may be the most offensive to some Indians. But, I’ve read I think that may Naitive Americans kinda like the acknowledment.
Am not in love with gold paints. I like white paints for some reason.Would like to see two narrow burandy stripes with a wide gold stripe in the middle, down the outside of the leg.
Gold helmut, leave those to the packers-my opinion of course.. I think we are fairly unique with the Burgandy helmut. Chiefs are close. Maybe gold names on jersey to add a little more gold but Burgandy is really our color-maybe burgandy paints with white tops if real burgandy, with gold stripes or design on jerseys-I like that. Nmbers should stay whte for ref and fans to see best-if that actually helps-else gold numbers..
I do prefer the Tomohack though. We should really ask our Native Americans who are fo r not changing the name!!!
They have more ivestment in this than most of us.
Just some thoughts..
Please less avoid this debate, it gets brought up about 10 times a year and never ends well.

But I think that girl has done far too much dreaming…
There's always next year...
Lemme say it again,
I didn’t make it, but I requested somebody did.

if people are offended by the team logo they should hit the road and be a fan of some other team
Anyone who thinks the logo is meant to offend is just looking for oportunities to be offended. It’s meant to be a compliment, not an insult.
Are Colts and Broncos fans insulted by the oppression of animals as beasts of burden (you can add 1/2 of the NFL teams to that category)?
Are Chargers fans insulted by a logo which shows a dangerous facet of nature?
Are the Chiefs fans insulted (I live in Chiefs territory and I’m also a Chiefs fan so I know what I’m talking about when I say NO!).
Are Raiders fans insulted by their team name referring to criminals?
Are Minnesota fans offended by referring to Vikings?
Start changing things and you’ll end up having to change everything including the name and when you change that a lot of fans are just going to leave.
Don’t change the uniforms, don’t change the team name, don’t change the logo. If you don’t like them then leave.

In case you missed my jersey concept from earlier this week:

I'm fine with no changes
as long as they make the gold pants match the other ones. Give me some asymmetrical striping and were good.

Screw asymmetrical... tailgating creats all the symmetry you need once you're in the stadium

AS SOMEONE WHO KNOWS, LET ME TELL YOU
Nike has zero, and I mean zero ability to change anything related to the NFL logos. They may suggest uniform ideas to teams, but nobody has to accept.
Furthermore, the NFL has strict rules, more than any other league, on the subject of “branding”. If a team wishes to change logos, they must give the NFL over a year of notice. Uniforms can only be changed every five years at a minimum.
The NFL mandates that a team can only have three jerseys, and a maximum of one helmet. This is why “Pro Combat” in college will never, EVER be seen in the NFL.
Next year, we will see these changes:
An updated Panthers logo set, with the same uniforms.
Tweaked Seahawks logo and NEW UNIFORMS, potentially quite “Oregonesque”, within NFL rules.
Small changes to the Jaguars, as Nike’s uniform cut will be different than Reebok’s.
BUT THATS IT AS FAR AS WE KNOW.
Expect more changes in 2013 and beyond, but nothing drastic. The NFL is gunna look almost exactly the same.
I actually really like the cut of Nike's uniforms.
I find it odd how the sweat is centralized in only a few areas on the jersey to create systematic, yet uniform dark patches within the fabric. Fascinating, really.
Exactly.
Some may have seen a quote from a Nike guy saying “we want to dramatically change the NFL uniform” or whatever. This is what he’s talking about. The whole 30% lighter, 50% stretchier realm.
It will probably be a variation of the “Speed Machine” template recently featured by many college teams.
