WR is the key....

I think that the key to all of our offseason QB speculation lies in free agency. And not acquiring a QB in free agency, but a WR! Shanny has mentioned finding a playmaking wr, whether that be in free agency or the draft. WR's that I believe could help this organization: Blackmon, Wright, Floyd in the draft, and Bowe, Jackson, in free agency.

With that being said, EVERYONE knows that we have QB issues. Here is a list of QB's that I could see being the Redskins STARTING QB next season (i might not like the list, but its reality): Grossman, Orton, Manning, Luck, RG3, Tannehill.

In order to get a young QB, to call our own, in the draft (Luck, RG3, Tannehill), we're gonna have to get them in the 1st round. In the case of Luck and RG3, we'll probably have to give up more picks to get them. In doing so, to solidify our WR issues, we'll be forced to get stuck with a second tier WR (not Wright, Blackmon, or Floyd). This is not the best solution.

Now we can go the other route. If we decide to draft a WR at 6, Floyd and Wright will be available, POSSIBLY Blackmon. This would give us a automatic weapon on the outside.

Star-divide

Basically, the point I'm making is that if you see the Skins go aggressively in the first few days of free agency after a WR, and land either Bowe or Jackson, you can bet your lucky stars that he will be receiving passes from Andrew Luck or RG3 this season.

Our QB issues might be settled via free agency as well, if we go sign a Manning or Orton, then you can bet your lucky stars he'll be throwing balls to Floyd, Blackmon, or Wright. We'll then have to find us a QB next draft. This is not necessarily a bad thing, since Jones, Bray, Murray, Barkley, and Wilson will probably all declare. We'll just be waiting another year for that FRANCHISE QB, not just a stop gap.

So, pray that Kansas City struggles to come to an agreement with Brandon Carr and are forced to franchise him. Bowe will be ripe for the picking and so will RG3!...

Manning, Orton not long term solutions

Even if the Skins land Manning or Orton in FA, they are not long term solutions. A young QB would still be needed to develop for the future. If we were talking Flynn, I might be more confident in the arguement.

Why with Flynn? A QB who likely doesn’t have the tools to consistently perform at a high level.

Better than what we have

and we don’t have to have a long-term solution right now. As long as there’s a plan in place for one, I’m down. I’d rather not piss away a bunch of picks this year anyhow.

We need a big WR no doubt

question do we bring him in via free agency or the draft. I think if we get a big name free agent , it will be an indication that we are making a move for Griffin. I like Randle if we get the guy via the draft

Good teams are built from the lines, out. We’ve got the DL (aside from a depth position here or there) and the OL is a work in progress. We aren’t going to win anything important unless we fix the OL.

The lines are the most important units on a team, but the most important position is the quarterback. The majority of the time the WR’s play to the level of the quarterback rather the other way around.

Which is why I’d seriously question whether or not Wright from Baylor is really all that good or not.

Tannehill would not be a starter next season

that may be a year or two down the road.

WR is not the key

WRs don’t mean squat when you don’t hve a QB to throw to them.

While we do need a true #1 WR it is a much lower need than QB.

I think WR is a huge key for success

Think about todays offenses………..many more 3-4 WR sets. If you have a true #1, who can command help over the top, it leaves one-on-one matchups for your other WR’s and TE’s. This is huge for our passing attack. Currently, we have no one who commands a double team, or who is even a mis-match problem for defenses(maybe fred Davis). Just imagine who our offense would look with an Andre Johnson, Larry Fitz, Calvin Johnson, Bowe, Jennings etc. It would open a lot of things up, and would make life a lot easier on a young QB.

There is not one defensive coordinator in the NFL who has to game plan around ANY of our offensive skill positions.

Not when you don't have a QB

Evidently you missed the part where I said “WRs don’t mean squat when you don’t hve a QB to throw to them” and “While we do need a true #1 WR it is a much lower need than QB”.

Yes we need a #1 WR but it won’t be of much help until we get a QB so QB has to be the top priority.

WR iS the key...

to determining our QB situation this season.
QB IS our main need, all i’m saying is that we’ll probably no more after the first few days of free agency. Hell, maybe after the first few days of franchise tags start flying.

not really. getting the right QB or QBs is the key

It’s funny to me that people think our OL is fine even though they gave up a ton of scaks and pressures last year yet the same folks think our WR corps is terrible even though we didn’t have a decent QB to give them a good chance at showing what they can do. Do you really think that bringing in a better QB who help ALL of our WRs step up their game?
