The GM's plan to turn it around in 2012
We will start by stating 2 facts Luck is going #1 and without brown & dolphins handling there QB issues through Free agency ( Manning & Flynn ) RG3 won't fall to us. This is the draft as it stand now 1. colts- Luck 2. Rams- Blackmon 3. Vikings- Kalil 4. Browns-RG3 5. Bucs- Claiborne so here the plan we could draft Reiff but here's the way we fix this team now. We trade the 1st round pick for a 2 & 3 this year and whatever picks you can get for 2013 ( this gives us two #2,two #3, two #4, #5, & #7 ) with those picks we take the which ever QB you like after Luck & RG3 all will be there in the second round when we pick. With the second #2 pick- Zebrie Sanders T from Florida st. Round 3 we take Kevin Zeitler G from Wis and Tommy streeter WR fom Mia. Round 4 we take Nigel Bradham ILB from Florida st and Shaun Prater CB from Lowa. Round 5 ( 3 choices ) Lucas Nix OG from pitt, Philip Blake C from baylor, William Vlachos C from alabama. Round 7 best player. Even if shanny brings manning worst case he tutors the young QB and saturday will follow worst case he tutors the young C. This gives us depth on a line that isn't bad when healthy but couldn't stay healthy the last 3 to 4 years atleast. Free Agency we sign Fletcher, Davis, Hightower, Landry if you are tired of him them Branch from Oak, Carriker, Montgomery or Lichtensteiger. All K from the draft will be there after the draft nobody is drafting them this year except maybe 1 or 2 in th seventh round. Remember all we need at QB right now is one that doesn't average a int a game and just be consistent like A.Dalton did last year with this running game he has help. You cannot tell me with a line and running game like we have with this draft we cannot find a QB in the 2nd round since only Luck & RG3 will go in the first round

This is what i came up with to stick with the plan building through the draft. I love RG3 as a prospect and if we trade up for him i won’t be mad but then we go back to free agency the next 2 years because of the price we will pay for him. This move leaves us going after guys like Bowe, Jackson, or Colston at WR and Nicks, Grubbs, and Meyers for O-Linemen. I would rather stick to the plan building through the Draft this team only averages 25 years old and will be contending for along time if we keep build it through the draft with hungry young players. I do not mind free agents they just need to be hungry to win and is for the team not self
I just feel that...
QB is the most important position on the team. This year we are picking #6. Unless we plan on picking this high again, this is the year we need to make a move for a franchise QB. If we are drafting 15th next year, we will give up far more picks to move up and grab a top QB. ( i understand you aren’t against this idea—just wanted to say that this should be the highest priority during offseason) Yeah, we need some better depth on the Oline. But its good enough how it is now, maybe sign another 1-2 mid level players to strengthen for a year or two. We’d also most likely still have our 3rd rounder to use on an Olineman. I’m not impressed with any of the WRs in the draft, i’d sign a couple free agents to fill that need. if we don’t go 7-9/8-8, I think Shanny is fired. So forget waiting another year to address the QB situation. he’s either going all in on Manning or RGIII or both.
it seems like we pick this high every other year

A 1.10 could have been picked in 2011, but the Team traded down to 1.16 and an addition pick. A similar move would
be to trade the 1.6 for the Bengals 1.21 and get 2nd and 3rd round picks (2.21 & 3.21).

We dont need manning we need RG3 .
I agree %100 we need a QB now and RG3 is a must grab while we are at number 6 in the draft , we move to 2nd spot by trading up with stl rams because if we dont it will cost us dearly if we dont grab him now . We will get RG3 and it will turn our team around fast because we are only a few players away from being a very good team . We can always grab a few young FAs to help the offense out until we can get the few extra draft picks back we trade away to the rams to get RG3 and then we can keep drafting players from the draft instead of getting FAs . But the time is now to draft our QB and use a good draft pick to pick up our franchise QB for the next 15 years . If we get RG3 dont be surprised if we dont win the division because RG3 is that dam good .

If we trade
the our first pick we had better get more than another teams 2&3

I was surprised i had to read down 4 comments before someone mentioned this
I was hoping that he ment swap ones and get a 2nd and 3rd… but it appears not to be the case
if we got an extra 1st next year I'd do it. That gives us trading power to get whichever QB we want next year

also
why do we need a line of nothing but 1st and 2nd rounders….other teams do just fine behind pieced together lines.

True we need to address the QB not debating that but nothing wrong with having the peices in all there first either. The team isn’t bad as the so called experts say. LIke i said this is a plan B because if we do not trade for him there’s no sure thing peyton is coming or he will be ready this year. If we do not trade up RG3 my draft is similar to what you will see if peyton comes in and isn’t ready or they force him back to early and he will do it because he just wants to play. I want them to trade up for RG3 or bring peyton if he’s healthy but if neither workout then this is a good plan is all i am saying
Cerrato part 2
Wow, all you want to get is a second and third round pick for the 6th overall pick. Do you even follow football? Are you related to Cerrato?
Rookie O line
This may sound crazy, but with the way Maurice Hurt, and Willie Smith played, don’t any of you think they will be better this upcoming year with a full off season of practices under their belt? I mean I’m all for drafting a possible O lineman with the 1st pick if the qb situation doesn’t pan out. Even if they trade down, and gain another late 2nd or 3rd rd pick, if they wind up sitting a littler further down in the draft, they could draft a LB to go along with Fletcher and Riley.. Im all in for targeting Dwyane Bowe in free agency, despite the qb situation.. I feel as if a guy like Bowe, Hankerson, Santana, would be a nice wr threat..
Yes we do let Maurice Hurt and willie smith start ( Smith is my starting RT and moves back to LT if any juries happen to T.Williams) but we want the depth our O-line has been killed by injuries every year for atleast the last 3 years we just want it so if one goes down we have another starting caliber guy is his back up and when he goes in there is no let down in play
Do not act like shanny hasn’t made big mistake when it comes to player personnel switching from a 4-3 ( top 5 defense ) to a 3-4 playing nothing but zone that first year getting rid of rogers then playing man with Hall. We all know Rogers was the better man to man and Hall is the better zone CB neither were great but that is backwards. Then running off Campbell who could of ran this offense and not having anybody better to replace him ( If your going to make a change it’s suppose to be a upgrade if i am not mistaken )
We need to draft up period.
If we do not trade up and get RG3 this year , it will be the worst mistake in our franchise history because we are this close to having a very good team and picking at 6th spot to move up to 2nd spot might cost a lil bit in drafts but picking from 15 th spot and trading up next year will cost us more draft picks than it would if we moved up this year . I say move up grab one of the best QB now because next years draft on QBs is in my opinion not that good other than maybe barkley , and barkley is not as good as RG3 and if you look at barkleys stats compared to RG3 then come back and tell me he is better than RG3 because he is not . RG3 is a must this year and i think allen / shanny already have a deal almost in place to move up and get RG3 .

we are this close to having a very good team
are we watching the same team?
our WR corps is in the bottom third of the league.
OL might be worse.

Our wide recievers would be a lil better .
Providing if we had a good QB to throw them the ball . See this is why we need to sign RG3 so we can get better , remember how everyone says manning was the reason the team was so good ? well they said manning made everyone around him better right ? well the same could be said about RG3 , see he could by enough time to find a reciever to get open because the other players are going to have to step up and try and cover our mobile QB which in turns open up the wr spot to single coverage which will allow some of our ecievers to get open a lil more .Having a mobile QB will open up our offense a lil more so we can throw down field more . The opposing team are going to have to put extra men up front to try and control RG3 since he will be a threat to running on them which opens the offense .

Remember when the Colts were good and they had the best receiving duo in the NFL?
So you’re assuming that RGIII can do what Manning did, and that we don’t need WR talent.
we are this close to having a very good team
bottom line is that a lot of unlikely things have to break our way in order for that statement to be true

I think we are not too far away from being good enough to make the playoffs
But they absolutely need a decent quarterback. They could also be hurting at safety, and need a big WR, and could use some help with the O-line. All those except QB can be fairly easily obtained from FA and the draft – many posters are giving very interesting sounding names – and we have a lot of money and cap space. In a sense, it’s like last year, in that we need a QB. But other parts are stronger this year than last year.
For QB, it seems to be either (1) Manning and a second tier guy (Tannehill, Foles, Weeden), or (2) RG3, or (3) somebody like Orton and a second tier guy.
I like the trade down option .....
with an extra 2 and 3 this year , and a 1st next year . Get Gerard or Orton for a 1 year deal . Draft Weeden with the lower 2nd , or upper 3rd round pick . Let Weeden and the FA compete for the starting job for 2012 . Then in 2013 we have 2 1st rounders to trade up to the necessary pick to choose the best QB availabe , be it Barkley , Bray , Murray , or Wilson . Then allow them to compete with Weeden in 2013 . This would leave us with either 2-2nds and a 3rd , or an upper 2nd and 2-3rds , 2-4ths , a 5th , a 6th and a 7th round pick to fill other holes in the 2012 draft .
Trading Down...
I’m not opposed to trading down (and actually wrote a post relating to do exactly that if RG3 is gone). If they can trade down and still nab a N. Foles or Tannehill, then grab a late round back-up in K. Moore from Boise State (reminds me of E. Manning). Then we can let Rex and/or Beck take the boot.
I’m not completely sold on RG3 – but I will admit the thought of such an athlete would be exciting to see in DC. Just look at Tebow in Denver, not considered as good of a thrower as RG3, yet they make the playoffs. A few more players, young depth and some Tebowing – the skins could easily be a wild card team.
Forget not the Redskins beat the Super Bowl Champion Giants twice! (I know we will milk this fact all offseason & why not?)

WR corp isn't that bad
True we need a #1 WR that has some height. Our WR had problems with health and no QB remember we have guys like Armstrong who not to many DB’s can run with missed to many time deep because weak arm QB’s (Rex, Beck). Then WR’s like Hankerson who started to come on before injury. Yes Moss has lost a step can still be really good with a #1 WR outside of him against a nickel CB and Davis & Cooley beating the LB/S. The O-line at the end of the year played well against good Defenses but we need depth because our starting O-Lines have played well but they never make it past week 3 togeather before the injuries start. That’s another reason i drafted so many O-Lineman in my draft. I think we have good T (Williams, smith) we could use another solid one not sure of polumbus. I like Hurt and chester solid but we could use a upgrade to dominate and C right now all we have is Cook we need a upgrade here. Montgomery and Listen. are FA neither are on the roster right now.

i am with you some days i am saying forget it lets go get him others i am saying that’s alot to give up for the next 2 years for him not to workout considering our coaching staff hasn’t showed us they can adjust and play to a players strengths they were just getting rid of guys instead of playing to there strengths. That’s another question i have for Kyle what adjustments would he make to fit RG3’s style so he’s comfortiable and most effective.
I don't like trading up to second unless we really think RG3 is the second best player
I’m worried that trading up to second is a desperation move. Yeah…it could work (or not work), but it’s a bet against the odds. We will be paying at least 2nd pick value (probably more), for a player who is only 4th on most boards. That’s just not a wise bet.
Think it would be smarter to just wait until 4th and then have the phone call with Cleveland. Or even just see if the guy rolls to us at 6th. I think that is the cagey move, rather than desperation. We can still pick a good guy with 6th or perhaps even get some extra value from selling the 6th.
Griffin is a lot of fun, but he’s not perfect. Is 6 foot tall, 200. (That 6-2, 220 is BS, look at the man.) It is not like you are trading up for Luck or a (young) Manning.
I think we should look at Garrard, Cambell, Orton, etc. All our options.
Sure if we can get Brees or healthy Manning, or Luck or Griffen, great. But we need to do it for fair value. Not as a desperation reach. Those desperation moves kill us over time. I think if Allen or Snyder senses some sort of desperation attempt, they should squash it. We already had the McNabb fiasco. And I’m not saying, never make a move. But it needs to be SHREWD. One where we know our stopping point and walk away if it is reached. NOT the “at any costs” BS that is coating the boards.
