At 3-6 and without starter Michael Vick, the Eagles are reeling (to be fair, they've been reeling for a season-and-a-half but now they're really in a bad way). They define dysfunction, and even though they share the same record as the Redskins, Washington is a young team with a young franchise quarterback. Mike Shanahan's silly comments aside, the Redskins' offensive issues can be traced to inexperience. (The defensive ineptitude, meanwhile, is a combination of injuries, DeAngelo Hall and Jim Haslett.)
Redskins Shouldn’t Have Problem with ‘Unknown Factor’ and Nick Foles " CBS DC
"The kid’s got some skills and some talent, but he’s got that raw inexperience as well," he said. "We can use that to our advantage."

Throw a go route," Shanahan told Young. "If you happen to hit that guy in the white outfit with the ball, you won’t make me mad." The receiver was Jerry Rice. He ran the go route. Shanahan didn’t really want to drill Davis. But if it happened, maybe he would never stand on the 49ers’ side of the field again. Of course, if he hit Davis, Shanahan would never get his $250,000. Young dropped back to pass. He threw the ball in Davis’ direction.

"A lot of young guys and you put a camera in front of them or a microphone in front of them, what comes out of their mouth is not necessarily what the coaches or the team wants them to say. But they’re young and just don’t know any better. He’s not that what whatsoever. You’re not going to trick him into saying something he doesn’t want to say. He’s never going to say anything to diminish his teammates. Even if he thinks it, he’s not going to say anything about it. He’s always going to stand up there and say, ‘It’s my fault. This is my team and I need to do better. We win together and we lose together.’ I admire that about him."
Jammal Brown encouraged by first practice, wants to play this year
"I feel a lot looser, could move a lot more," said Brown, who missed the 2009 season after surgery to repair a torn labrum in the same hip, and has been limited off and on since. "I’ll know better after a week or so, how it feels. But I feel good. It was a great day for me." Said coach Mike Shanahan: "We’ve been working him out for a while, so I think he’s not in football shape but he’s been working out extremely hard. He looked good today. It looks like his flexibility is much improved. He looks like he’s pain-free, so hopefully in the next couple weeks he’ll be ready to go in and he’ll be in football shape."
Redskins coaches used bye week to begin preparations for Thanksgiving game
"We took a couple days and just looked at Dallas. …On a short week, you have the opportunity to do that if you have the bye before. It not, it makes it pretty tough," Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday.
RG3 (ribs) and Moss (concussion) practice | CSN Washington
Griffin practiced on Monday feeling much better after taking a hard shot in the second quarter of last week’s loss to the Panthers from blitzing safety Haruki Nakamura. Griffin had a pain killing injection at halftime, according to Coach Mike Shanahan, and X-rays afterward revealed no breaks. "He’s feeling pretty good," Shanahan said after the practice, the team’s first on-field activity in a week. "I asked him the same question today and he said he’s feeling pretty good."
What can Meriweather bring to the Redskins? | CSN Washington
Reed Doughty and Jordan Pugh have been splitting snaps at strong safety in Meriweather’s absence. One of the two, probably Doughty, will spell Meriweather. It appears that DeJon Gomes, who was the starting strong safety for the first three games before the Doughty-Pugh combination took over, will be inactive as the odd man out.

Coaches Film Breakdown: Robert Griffin III anticipating open receivers - Washington Times
One element of his evolution, in particular, was evident in the second half against Carolina on Nov. 4. Griffin completed several long passes by anticipating receivers getting open. It’s an indication he knows the Redskins’ offensive scheme, their personnel and that he is getting comfortable reading defenses.
Offensive line has Redskins off and running - Washington Times
"I think they’re solid," offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said, "I think they’ve done a good job. I think they did the same thing last year when they all played together. We only had them for about three games, but early in last year when the five of them were playing, I thought they did a pretty good job. I think this year they’ve only improved."
What will the Redskins see vs. Foles-led Eagles? - Rich Tandler's Real Redskins
In fact, the Redskins might not face Vick again this season, or ever as a member of the Eagles. And it wouldn’t be because Vick won’t recover from his concussion in time for the teams’ meeting on Dec. 23. Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Andy Reid may bench Vick for the rest of the year in order to try to save his job. Reid will reportedly try to bring Foles along far enough to convince owner Jeffry Lurie and GM Howie Rosenbaum that he is the guy best suited to develop Foles as the team’s quarterback of the future.
