I hope Tannehill and Foles commit to the Senior Bowl.

I’d like Shanny to get an up close look at these guys. Plus if I’m them, I say to myself, “this coach is looking for a QB, let me show him what I can do.”

I see it as more cushion for the pushin'

I whole heartedly agree

This is an excellent chance to impress a QB needy coach. I hope the take the opportunity.

I wonder how josh mcdainels feels

watching a 1-15 coach who he was replaced for take his team into the playoffs
If rg3 goes back. Do we start looking to schaub and flynn? and tannehil as a back up to them ?

by taylor21 on Jan 9, 2012 10:10 AM EST reply actions

I'm curious as to how Shanahan will play this.

I think the smart thing to do would be an attempt at a trade back and grab Foles/Tannehill and a WR/OL early on. Then sign Flynn to hold it down.

I think if we sign Flynn it takes the pressure off of reaching for a QB in round one and puts us in a better position to trade back.

I see it as more cushion for the pushin'

I love this scenario

Matt Flynn Starting, 2nd rounder (Foles/Tannehill) backing up and developing, and then a late round/UDFA QB with a lot of upside as the 3rd stringer.

3 new QBs are needed on this team, along with a lot of new starters.

by StephanHart on Jan 9, 2012 10:19 AM EST up reply actions

Unless Cincy is dumb enough to give us both of their first round picks, I don't see that happening

I have a feeling come draft day, both Tannehill and Floyd will be drafted in roughly the same spots. It’ll be tough to pull off, but that would be so ideal to get both of them.

by mbedner on Jan 9, 2012 10:38 AM EST up reply actions

I could see Cleveland making a move for our pick

They draft griffin with their 1st pick, swap their second 1st rd pick with us to get richardson. Problem is that Floyd would be off the board at that point

that would be an interesting scenario

i think that type of trade would net us a first rounder next year as well, because of how far back cleveland’s late pick would be in relation to our pick…then having two first rounders next year would give us the opportunity to move up if need be

As for me, all I know is that I know nothing.

If we sign Flynn, we should be using the 2nd round pick on an OLineman, WR, or corner.

Blackmon is who I want as well, but will he be available at 6 is the question. His stock has shot up now too.

I think once the combine starts another WR will emerge

but I did watch the espn sports science on blackmon. He is comparable to megatron

No, he won't

Blackmon scares me, especially at 6. It's hard for me to justify a WR in the Top 10 unless its Megatron, AJ Green type

Blackmon doesn’t grade as well as both. Oklahoma State’s offense is kind of gimmicky and I just wish he was taller.

Warren Moon’s comments the other day were pretty funny though.

For some reason, I was under the impression he was taller until recently..

In my opinion that is his only downfall. The kid has a tremendous skill set and some really good hands.

I still support the idea to stay put at 6 and see if RGIII falls that far, I just can’t see trading up just a few picks and risking giving up good value in the long run(unless it’s for Luck). IF they pass on Blackmon or RGIII/Luck are to expensive to make a move for, then they also have the option of trading back.

I think Orton

would serve that purpose and cost a lot less

I hear you

and I know Flynn has more upside. But Orton is a proven commodity, even if he is just mediocre, he is a much better game manager than Grossman. Also, if they sign Flynn, then I doubt they will go after RGIII.

I myself shudder at the thought of having the old ‘QB tandem’ from Chicago back together and in Burgundy and Gold. Thoughts of mediocre football race through my head.

i would not keep grossman

and signing orton would allow us to draft griffin if he is still available.

I'd actually prefer Orton to Flynn for several reasons

It’ll be interesting to see what the Chiefs do now that Crennel is the coach.

No pressure is alleviated...zero...

he signed McNabb, Grossman, and Beck via FA….

He is past 3 strikes….signing Flynn will increase win now pressure…not decrease it…
