I assume the Redskins QB situation was taken care of in the first round. It better have been or I'm going to start selling burgundy and gold shirts of this. The Skins either traded up, back, or stood strong at #6, but our starting 2012 QB has already shaken hands with Goodell. I'm certain of it.
At this point, the Redskins are on the clock, and a huge position in need: Safety (both of them need to be addressed since Atogwe is Atogwe and Landry will be gone). Dejon Gomes showed some promise, but by no means can he be inked in the starter. Two stud defenders are thankfully still on the board. So, that leaves:
- Markelle Martin (Ok State) - Free Safety (#1 rated)
Height: 6 ft. 1 in. Weight: 203 lbs, High 40 yd dash: 4.48 seconds, Low 40 yd. dash: 4.38 seconds
Abilities: Very physical, ball-hawk, can play 1-1, blitz, tends to go for big hit vs sure tackle [Draft Scout] -
Mark Barron (Alabama) - Strong Safety
Height: 6 ft. 2 in. Weight: 218 lbs, High 40 yd dash: 4.65 seconds, Low 40 yd. dash: 4.47 seconds
Abilities: Semifinalist for the Thorpe Award and a quarterfinalist for the Lott Trophy ... a first-team FWAA All-American ... first-team All-SEC by the league coaches and the Associated Press (AP) [Draft Scout]
