Simple Poll on your best guess who will be the Redskins Starting Quarterback (if a veteran is signed) or a soon to be Starting Quarterback (drafted early) after all is said and done at the conclusion of the 2012 NFL Draft. I left Andrew Luck out because It is becoming apparent that the Indianapolis Colts will be taking him no matter what. I only listed the top Quarterbacks in the draft that concludes on April 27.

I bet you $100 that RG3 is not on the Redskins roster after the first day of the draft.

I voted Matt Flynn

altho I still hope we that we can somehow land either RGIII (unlikely) or Luck (impossible).

Watch

I think ole shanny and synder has a deal already worked out with either minnesota or the rams to bring RG3 here , just a verbal agreement so far i think .

maybe...

If Miami signs Flynn…There is a chance Cleveland goes after Manning. Making it all that much easier for us to land Griffin without trading up

Free-Agency will Tell - All

Free agency is bout to began March 13, 2012. What happens then will tell the direction of almost every team just before the draft. Just about everyone will have a clearer picture, then make all the guesses you want to. Just wait and see, it never fails.

Forget Manning

There is no way he come to the Redskins

1.) He wants to win a championship next year = not happening with the Redskins
2.) He’s not going to join a team in Eli’s division (much like Eli didn’t want to be in Peyton’s conference by going to the Chargers)
3.) His price-tag is not one you pay when you are rebuilding.

He will miss another season, so he will probably retire instead

"I’ll paraphrase Dr. Watkins, who operated on Peyton back in September. He said, ‘There is no potion, there is no medicine, there is no modality, there is no series of exercises, there is no test, and there is no surgery that can predict accurately when a nerve will regenerate.’ And that is the issue here. And from what I understand, at least about a month ago, progress was ongoing … But no one can know, when and if Peyton’s nerve that controls the tricep muscle will regenerate completely, and will regenerate enough for him to play. The hope of every doctor we talked to—and we talked to many—is that it will. The expectation is that it will. But when it will, no one can predict."

This was from Bill Polian formally of the Indianapolis Colts
this is why they tried stems cells, to try and speed up the nerve regeneration… in other words to shorten it from years to months (I’m interested to see if it works)

Let's be honest

Who the f@ck really knows? In theory every player on that list is within our reach, I don’t really care who starts as long as they can manage the game and not hurt us with turnovers

So you want Trent Dilfer?

I hope we can have one of the top 3 Defenses of ALL TIME so we can win a superbowl then.

by jmpalomo on Jan 29, 2012 6:37 PM EST up reply actions

Did I say that?

Dilfer wasn’t a game manager, he was a below average QB who as you said had one of the best defenses of all time and a good ground game.

A game manager to me is more of a Kyle Orton/Matt Hasselbeck/Jason Campbell type player. I know it’s not inspiring but it would be an upgrade, and we could develop a QB behind one of those guys

There's always next year...

Yeah.

I wish there was some way to get our hands on a Jason Campbell-type QB.

Just watching the Pro Bowl

and one of the analysts (not sure who, but Mayock was one of them) said he had heard that Manning was not healing well, and he was not likely to play again. Tony Dungy also chimed in and said that he thought that if Peyton played at all, it would be for Indy. I.e., with Indy or retire. So, a double blow to my idea that Peyton could end up with the Skins, or at least go to a competitor for RG3. Oh well!

has reduced his arm strength and accuracy when he throws, therefore he won’t be the same Peyton as before the nerve damage.

Starting to think if we strike out on RG3

that Foles(along with Criner), will be in DC. Of course, we’ll have to sign a veteran to start off the season(maybe an Orton or Stanton type)

R.I.P JVP 1926-2012

by Tiller56 on Jan 29, 2012 8:02 PM EST reply actions

I get that feeling too

But Shanahan will roll with Rex to start the season instead of bringing another guy in to learn for 6-8 games and then hand it off to Foles. I was anti-Foles, but if his footwork is the biggest concern (outside of better mobility), then that can be cleaned up in OTA’s and training camps.

Redskins @RGIII - 2012

by Copious 1 on Jan 29, 2012 8:38 PM EST up reply actions

exactly. I think the best case senerio is Floyd in the first if they cant trade back and Foles in the second

Foles biggest issue is the footwork and like you said it can be cleaned up during OTAs. If Foles can fix the footwork and create chemistry with Floyd like he did Criner then i can see him starting week one

by squigums on Jan 29, 2012 9:29 PM EST up reply actions

If we went that route...

that would mean we traded back for Floyd…

the other 2nd round pick could easily grab us a stud right tackle in the draft…along with Molk in the 3rd or 4th

"Honey Badger Don't Care"

by ptowny on Jan 30, 2012 7:49 AM EST up reply actions

alot of mocks have us drafting floyd at 6

if we trade back we have to get the best lineman imo. no way we can draft a wr in the first a qb in the 2nd to sit and wait on rex 6-8 games and wait on a 3rd round lineman to get ready to come in for game 10 or so. shanahan wouldnt even make it through next season if we were 3-3 or 4-4 then we went 4-4 with foles

I watched a little bit of the game

And his footwork reminded me a lot of Donovan McNabb’s… I am sure he is more coachable, but it still scares me a little

by Skins Fan '77 on Jan 30, 2012 10:42 AM EST up reply actions

y if there is not a QB to grab Floyd is not a stretch so why not

also i never said biggest impact on the team i said offense. In my eyes our offense needs 3 things right now QB, WR, OL (more depth). if a QB is not there at 6 why not settle one of our biggest glaring problems at WR. defenses coordinators come to DC and laugh at our offense because we trot out Grossman and 3 30 yr old WR and call them starters. WE NEED A #1 WR and no FA (besides Bowe and Meachem) are gonna fill that need.

HAIL 4 LIFE!!!!

by squigums on Feb 1, 2012 11:55 PM EST up reply actions

Is he really the 2nd best WR?

I think a case could be made for Wright or Jeffrey being better than Floyd…when you combine that with his off field issues, taking him in the top 10 is a no-no for us

he is the most productive WR

I can understand argument for Wright he has been productive but we need a WR that is a down field stretch and win jump balls not another 5’10 WR.

but Jeffrey had a horrible 2011 season posting low numbers compared to Floyd. Jeffery had his best season last year and yes he will be a good pick up but Floyd looks ten times better.

Floyd has posted fantastic numbers for years winning jump balls and running routes like a pro. he went the whole 2011 season only dropping one pass and catching 100 passes. his off field issues have stop and has not had a issue in a while he has taken steps to keep him self under control and that shows his maturity is growing and that he is willing to take measures to control his off field issues.

HAIL 4 LIFE!!!!

by squigums on Feb 1, 2012 10:23 AM EST up reply actions

Grossman has issues other than fumbles and interceptions. His height means he gets passes blocked at the

LOS. His running speed means he can’t avoid the rush, hence sacks. An outside QB may have more of a learning curve than Rex, but may not be as bad as Beck. Kyle Shanahan did not see that as a great problem.

by Jefferson1935 on Jan 31, 2012 2:07 PM EST up reply actions

dont forget of him holding the ball too long

and his uncanny ability to not hear or feel a defender coming up from behind him. i mean the o-line has to be screaming look out!! or throw the damn ball!!!! or get down mother ffer!! as much as i am when i see some1 about to sack him from behind lol

I think last year, we would have been better off sticking with Jason than bringing McNabb in.

And I think this year, we would have been better off with wormburner than eff it I’m going deep.

by TCO on Jan 30, 2012 10:07 AM EST reply actions

My gut feeling is........

We will end up with a new vet…..Orton. I don’t think the Shanny’s will be willing to pay the price for Luck, RG3, or Manning if he’s available or even healthy. Whether it’s smoke or not, I have heard multiple times they are not on the Flynn train. Orton is a solid player who could be had below market value because of the shitty hands he has been dealt in Chicago and Denver. I think they will move back to the late teens/early 20s to get a few extra picks like last year and continue drafting high character guys that fit the scheme. I think that would include a QB with the 2nd or 3rd pick (Foles or Weeden) but don’t forget Tannehill. I heard they were hoping to work with him at the Senior Bowl. They could trade back for value and draft him. I am sure, if there is genuine interest in Tannehill, they were hoping Weeden would have performed a little better in the Senior Bowl to maybe get him to leapfrog Tannehill in the general draft grades. We have to come out of this draft with at least (2) OL (1 interior, 1 exterior at minimum), a QB, CB, WR, SS, ILB, and more depth everywhere. We may need a TE as well depending on what happens with Davis.

Can we please get a mother f***ing QB we can be proud of?!?!?!?!?!?!

by shvd98z24 on Jan 30, 2012 3:37 PM EST reply actions

I think a scenario with us going into camp with.....

Orton and Tannehill/Foles would be an improvement over this year and would also mean we went for another max value draft. All that matters is the record next season…we squeak out 8-8 and Shanny is definitely safe for another year. In all reality….we need 1-2 more drafts like last years to have a roster that we should feel comfortable trading picks with….that’s just the facts. However, I am always for a team getting their guy…..if they are sold on one of these top name guys, I am all for some mortgaging for them to get them. No more excuses after that….I will not have the same patience if we send multiple #1s away!

Can we please get a mother f***ing QB we can be proud of?!?!?!?!?!?!

I read someplace that

Shanny is good friends with Fisher. I hope they make a trade so we can have pleanty of draft picks that we desperatley need to make the Rams at least competitive.

by OakCityRam on Jan 31, 2012 9:01 AM EST reply actions

As Redskins fans we are constantly curious about

Other people’s players. Has anyone given any thought to Dennis Dixon of the Steelers? Mobile QB. He hasn’t played in many games (his numbers from last year are entirely from the Ravens game, where no shock he was a 50% passer). This year he had a few more games, and played much better. He tore the miniscus in his knee which cam be trouble, but he’ll have had most of a year to heal.

I want a mobile – really mobile qb on this team even if he’s not starting. Why? So our D can learn to play against one! I’m tired of Vick and Newton and Romo and anyone else who runs a sub 7 second 40 running all over our D because they’re used to statues. McBadd didn’t practice, so he doesn’t count. He’d be a great backup if we carry 3 QBs next year.

by timith on Jan 31, 2012 10:11 AM EST reply actions

Well, we beat them the first time - Vick got hurt early

And on Dixon, Webb, etc – Parks mentioned the Pats’ Hoyer. Seems we’re looking at all the backups. Re the Rams (OakCity) – do you mean we might trade for Bradford (and the Rams draft RG3)? A lot of us would like that.

by Donnio1234 on Jan 31, 2012 9:39 PM EST up reply actions

ok i forgot about that game.

was that the game where the eagles went up 14-0 on us in the 1ST then we came back and won? i remember waking up kinda late and drove over my friends to watch the game and turned on the radio to listen to the game on the way over his house and the eagles were up 14 to nil. i almost turned around and went back home to go back to bed lol.

by munson21502 on Feb 1, 2012 12:04 AM EST up reply actions

I would prefer Joe Webb over Dixon.....

Webb is with the Vikings….may be the most mobile QB in the league. We still need a Plan A…..these are both Plan B kinda guys….other teams junk!

by shvd98z24 on Jan 31, 2012 3:04 PM EST up reply actions

but neither is a Plan A…..wouldn’t you agree? I obviously don’t believe Webb is junk if I just condoned bringing him in.

by shvd98z24 on Feb 1, 2012 5:18 AM EST up reply actions

i agree with that.

and i think shanny will need to use plan A in order to keep coaching here. i just have no idea who it could be. my only guess is trading up to get rg3

by munson21502 on Feb 1, 2012 10:59 AM EST reply actions

The potential with Peyton

I’m honestly an RG3 fan. I hope we can get him with minimal damage as far as trade picks. That said, after what Shanahan and Allen did in the 2011 picks, 11 out of 12 saw the field, think about that for a second…if Peyton turns out to be capable of playing, and our front office able to do again what it did last year, we would basically have 22 to 24 new players that can produce. If they can flip the 8 picks this year into 12 and get starters/rotational players, holy sh*%, that’s an entire team in 2 years worth of picks. If Peyton can play and we don’t loose any draft picks, that would be very interesting, I think. We still pick up a QB later to learn behind one of the best ever. Just thinking out loud.

You ever seen a lion limber up before taking out a gazelle?
