I know we love london but.......
I think its time to talk about the quaterback of the defense. After all what else can really be said about the quaterback that hasnt been said already. So today I was wondering what you guys thought about signing london should we ? I know theres no doubt that he can still play. I know that he led the NFL in tackles. but does he reaally fit this defense ? I am indiferent if they sign him Im happy if they dont I wont care . so I have put together some options for us to look at let me know what you guys think
first lets look at free agency
D qwell Jackson -6"0 240lbs 28 years old from Maryland last year 158 tackles 1 pick one forced fumble ( cle)
Stephan Tulloch- 5"11 240lbs 27years old from NC state last year 111 tackles 2 picks (det)
David Hawthorne -6"0 246 lbs 26 years old from TX christian last year 115 tackles 3 picks(sea)
Jameel Mc CLain -6"1 245 lbs 26 years old from Syracuse last year 84 tackles 1pic "behind ray lewis" (bal
out of that bunch I would prefer Tulloch or McClain
now the draft
Luke Kuechly -6"3 237lbs from boston college last year 191 tackles 12 for a loss 3 deflection and 3 pics (top 20)
Dont'a Hightower -6"4 260 lbs from alabama last year 81 tackles 9.5 for a loss 3 sack and 1 pick (late 1st early 2nd)
Audie Cole- 6"4 248 lbs from NC state last year 98 tackles 9.5 for a loss 3.5 sacks 4 FF and 4 deflected pass (3-4)
so based on this limited information what do you guys think we should do keep in mind I respect everything that london has done for us but I have seen him get abused by TE this year. Hes not going to get any better or faster than he is right now so why not spend that money on a younger replacement or draft someone and let riley step up. So what should we do?

HOW DARE YOU?!
If it was any other 36 year old linebacker I’d feel differently, but he’s not shown one indication that he’s about to slow down. Secondly, and more importantly, I love his presence as a character guy. We’re young and getting younger on defense in general, and at linebacker specifically. More than his abilities on the field, I want him in the locker room showing these young men how to be there for each other. I get that father time catches up with everyone, and we do need to think about replacing him eventually, but if I were making personnel decisions for the Skins, it’s a lead pipe lock I’d sign him again.

I would sign him back to a 3 year contract that i could easily get out of after each year
and proceed to find his replacement in the draft, and you can find LB’s in the later rds like you did Perry Riley a 4th rd pick, get a guy bring him in and groom him to take over
If ever there was a reason to surrender your Redskins fan card...
This is it.
This is the first, second, and third unmanly thing you have done all in one post… you can also surrender your man card.
London has two good seasons left in him barring injury (and if we just jinxed him, you are in even more hot water)
The Redskins will draft his replacement this year or next.
The world looks mighty different when you're peeking out your belly button

thats fair and about what i expected
I know he’s the unquestioned leader and all that I’m not saying I want him gone at all I was just interested in the opinions of you guys I do agree whatever deal we sign him to there should be an opt out honestly I like london and consider him right under sean taylor in terms being a legendary redskin this post was more about curiosity of the various opinions of hogs haven than wanting london gone

NEVER
resign London and draft Audie Cole. Let perry an cole fight it our for playing time
HAIL 4 LIFE!!!!
DAMN !!!
Have you been hangin out with Trent and Fred , or what ? If you would even be a little ok with letting London go , you MUST be high !
what!!!!!!!
Im gonna say this and it bothers me to say it.Because i loved watchin Taylor play as much as London. GO TO HELL TAYLOR 21!!!!!!!! You dont know crap about nothin!!!
I'm definitely on the "We gotta re-sign London" train.
However, we should definitely start looking at grooming some young MLB talent. I’d prefer to do it through the draft rather than through FA. If we end up trading back from #6, Kuechly is a prospect I really like. QB and RT might seem like more glaring needs, but I’m all for grabbing the best talent available, even if it’s at of position of perceived “lesser” need.
"Dominant" is an adjective.
"Dominate" is a verb.
We'll work on "Dominance" once we get the first two figured out.
Silly question
Should we sign the NFL’s leading tackler……..hhhhmmmmmm, let me think about that.
He has been one of the only truly passionate players on this team in years that actually backs up the passion with consistent tough play and class.
Not re-signing him is not a signal of going in the right direction.
I would definitely resign London.
He is the heart and soul of this team. We all talk about how there is not much leadership on the team. But if you let London go we will be stuck with DeAngelo Hall… And I know you don’t want that. But I would definitely sign or draft a backup. I love what Jameel McLain brings to the table though. Perry Riley might need a couple of years before he takes the helm but I like what I see.
I obviously think that we should re-sign London
but this isn’t a bad post idea, because there is always a chance that London decides to go elsewhere. It could be only 5% right now who knows, but it is worth looking at some other options. So good work Taylor 21

thanks
I think a couple people read the title and scrolled right down to the comments. I think london will be back and was just curious in opinions in HH. I never was advicating not resigning him but I also know ILB is a huge part of a sucessfull 3-4 I probally should have made the title should we re-sign perry riley or look for his replacement maybe there would have been less backlash
no i think it is valid
though i would suggest maybe editing the title haha.
For me if Fletch did leave I’d say Tulloch despite him being slightly undersized, with McClain a back-up option.

So you saying that we shouldnt resign our only pro bowler
Who just happens to be our best leader as well as our most consistent player.
Shame on you.
London needs to retire a Redskin
Wish we had this dude his entire career. He is the definition of professionalism and consistency. No question in signing him back to finish his career out here

Yes we should try to sign him
But we need to realize he may not want to come back. While he loves dc, he may want one more shot at a title. We need to start looking for his replacement.

exactly we can't go into FA with the mindset that it is a lock, and the Franchise tag is pretty high
we have to at least be prepared.
The good news is my biggest concern is probably off the table. I thought London might go to N.O. b/c of Gregg Williams, but now that he is in St. Louis it wouldn’t be likely unless the Rams moved Lauranitis to OLB (not likely).

If he were 36 and showing it... then I'd buy your article... but... at 36... he plays better than most ILBs
Also, ILB Perry Riley is coming along fine…
We’ll get an ILB at some point… but I think we can wait another year (too many pressing needs this year).
i cant see how you wouldnt resign LBF
based on what he is doing and has done .
however we should look at options and be ready to draft his replacement either in this draft or the next one
As long as London wants to play...
He is starting ILB for the Washington Redskins. Echoing 1×1an from two posts above, Perry did very well this year and we can address ILB in a cheaper manner at a later time.
"If there's football in heaven I will be thinking of Sean Taylor every time it thunders."
He's a team leader, a coach on the field, our hardest worker
He’s been amazing in this defense for years.
And he hasn’t shown signs of slowing down
So, no.
