McCartney: No self-respecting Redskins fan dares root for Ravens - The Washington Post
Today, let’s set aside minor matters like District political corruption or Virginia and Maryland legislative debates so we can focus on something genuinely important: Is it okay for a Redskins fan to root for the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday?

Flashback: Monte Coleman Defied the Odds
"I was afraid of losing my job," he said. "I never got to the point of being complacent. I always wanted to stay one step ahead of anybody and everybody. It was something where, if I didn’t do what I need to do, my career could have been cut short."

Darrel Young, NFL To Visit Deployed Military Units -The Redskins Blog
"Myself personally, I will be traveling to Korea at the end of this month to visit military troops. I will be traveling as part of something that the NFL is trying to do to let our troops know that we are thankful for what they are doing for this country by putting their lives on the line everyday."

Since 2005, the 49ers have drafted a mind-numbing 60 players. The Redskins, conversely, had selected just 51 – and that number is inflating because last year’s 12-man draft class.

Scout: Matt Flynn’s ‘A Slam Dunk’ | Mr. Irrelevant, a D.C. Sports Blog

"I was blown away by the guy because I had such low expectations. I was amazed at how good he looked, how in command and he’s a mobile guy. He was not as impressive [last summer], but he was still good. I think he’s a Rich Gannon type. He has a good arm, not a great arm. Arm strength is one of the most overrated aspects of a quarterback.

To be fair

He also chose Mario Williams over Vince Young. But yeah, yer right, his first round record is pretty awful overall.

Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

I'll root for the Ravens to beat the Cheatriots, but everyone knew I'd do that.

OTOH, other than wanting to see New England fail, I have no dog in the hunt anymore for any of the teams left standing. I don’t like any of them, nor do I despise them (except New England), even including the Giants.

I'm just hoping

The 49ers win it all. Would make things so much easier.

But yeah, I’ll be pulling for Baltimore. New England turns my stomach.

I don't hate on the Ravens as much as their fans hate on us

Shoot, I used to be a Colts fan and watched them leave when I was 10. Naturally, I moved to the Skins. By the time the Ravens came back to B-more, I was living in DC for over 10 years and all my family had moved away from Annapolis and closer to DC so I had no connections to the Ravens. Hope they get past the Pats. I’ll root for them but not loudly.

I was born in Baltimore and lived there until I was 4.

My dad sells ravens jerseys and t-shirts and yet I would never dare root for the ravens unless they were playing an NFC east team. I don’t have a big ass redskin tattoo on my arm for no reason!!!

Agree I have multiple Ravens friends and sport season I want them to do bad. They always let me know how bad my last decade of football has been.

I like the Ravens.

This always seemed like a manufactured rivalry to me.

They are a class organization with one of the best GMs in the business.

I hope we can be as successful as they’ve ben for the past 12 years.

I'm in the same boat

parts of their fan base are pretty obnoxious but they’re a franchise that does things the right way. Danny-boy could learn.

Yep, I didn't read the article linked in the daily slop but..

I don’t see why we should hate the Ravens. They certainly haven’t given me a reason to hate them like Pittsburgh, Philthy, or New England. Geography-based rivalries are weak.

Especially when they are in different conferences

I root for the ravens because I can’t stand the Steelers or the patriots

if the Redskins were ever good and we played meaningful games I could see it

but the Ravens came to town and have been a regular playoff team right since the halfway point of our current drought of being decent.
