What we thought all along

Yes folks, its the dreaded end to another season of dissapointment for redskin fans. After a 3-1 start the qb carousel began when rex grossman failed to show he could correct his affinity to limit the turnover. Injuries also played a big role and suspensions of trent williams and fred davis added to that. This did allow us to see someof the younger guys to determine what we had there. These guys could be pieces that we can rely on if not starters but reliable depth.

For the rising tide who wants to mortage pick after pick for adrew luck or robert griffin, this game shall be a lesson to you all. Some of the play today could be attributed to looking past this last game just wanting the season to end. On the other hand we just don't have the talent to overcome a weak offense and good but unspectacular defense. Not to mention our special teams collapse.

We have multiple needs. Granted everything can't be solved in one offseason but you can sure take a bite out of the apple that is mediocrity. Our number one need is obvious, quarterback. Rex Grossman is terrible. The turnovers killed this team and we could not overcome. That being said i don't think we need a john elway elite type signal caller. We need a guy who can make accurate throws and not turn the ball over. Whether this is Matt flynn possibly or rg3,tannehill,foles, cousins, etc. we need desperately to find that guy.

Our offensive line is a joke. I admire willie smith for showing some flash but generally he allowed alot of pressures and hurries on the qb. He could ge better just by being moved to the right side or by working hard in the offseason. I thought Maurice hurt was serviceable. He had moments where he made some good blocks down field but has some ways to go. Jamaal brown is garbage, will montgomery is weak and undersized, and chris chester is far from elite. Trent williams is also a blunt away from sitting for a year. However this is where we can make the most improvement this offseason. Possibly signing carl nicks and drafting multiple linemen in the first 4 rounds of the draft can go along way to solidifying this line.

There are not alot of options at cornerback in free agency. Maybe we could go after a courtland finneganbut i think we going to have to stick withwhat we got for now and possibly pick a guy with a 4th or 5th round pick. We have alot of the same guys at wideout. Maybe Hankerson can breakout from this years injury and be spectacular but we might have to go after a guy like dwayne bowe. Other possibilities could be spending an early pick on a dwight jones or marvin mcnutt. Fred Davis obviously has to be resigned but we should not break the bank. I don't think we are as bad as it may seem at wideout but we lack that playmaker/td maker that a team relies on in the redzone.

I think we are pretty good on the defensive front. Carriker is a free agent so we might have to bring in a replacement if the price is too high. The lb core looks solid but we need young depth there because london fletcher isn't getting any younger. I am not opposed to maybe bolstering the nt position and sliding cofield over to end and getting a young fast lb that can cover tight ends. This is also a problem at safety. We get burned by tight ends constantly. I feel we might be forced to take a chance and resign an injury prone landry. Otogwe has also been hurt, doughty is a backup at best, and gomesis still young. We might be best served drafting a safety with a late pick or getting someone who is at least not prone to injury in free agency.

Again I stress the fact that trading multiple picks to move up in the draft is the biggest mistake this franchise could make. We have to have faith that Shanahan has been scouting guys and we could secure a qbcapable of taking this team where it needs to go. We also have to have faith that shanahan sees the obvious deficiencies and takes steps to improve those deficiencies. We can do nothing but look forward to the prospects that this could be the year we turn this once pround franchise around and obtain the glory that is rightfully ours.

here are the following FAs we will sign

QB: jason campbell (he knows the city)
back up QB: Sage Rosenfels (he knows the system)
RB: rock cartright (cool first name, and we need yet another good special teams guy)
OG: Derrick Dockery (who doesn’t love double D’s)
C: Edwin Williams (versatile back up C/G- we only have 3 of those guys on the roster)
FB: Eddie Williams (will cause confusion when he and the Edwin are on the field at the same time)
DE: Chris Clemons (because his brother Nic is out of football)
S: Ryan Clark (Because we should not have let him go the first time)
K: Nick Novak (see above)
P: Matt Turk (just coming into his own)
NT: Antonio Dixon (he might be a project)
G: Chad Rinehart (See Edwin)
KR: Devin Thomas (he is better than banks, seriously)
WR: Macolm Kelly, Marko Mitchell (both are over 6 feet tall)
