Hello Redskins fans! This week marks a glorious week in the year when football, that is real not preseason football, starts in all it's awesomeness. Some of you may or not remember me, but last year I was the unofficial designated representative of BBV and led the "Ask a fan of team x" fanposts that many teams did. In addition to this, I decided to dig around and make this post more special. Beyond the jump is an overload of data.
Any feedback, corrections, or ideas (especially about the format) of this portion will be gladly accepted.

2000: 0-1
2003: 0-1
2004: 0-1
2005: 1-1 (AFC Conference Title loss)
Note: To my surprise, Shanahan has only won his division 3 times (1996, 1998, 2005). His first Super Bowl win was as a 12-4 Wildcard team.
Vs. New York Giants
(Shanahan only one career win vs. the New York Giants (in 2001), and a losing record in all 3 of his Coaching Stints)
Overall: 1-5
Raiders: 0-1 (1989)
Broncos: 1-2 (1998, 2001, 2005)

Division Wins: 1997, 1998, 1999, 2005, 2008
(Frustration Note: Profootball reference's "rank" stat doesn't account for tie breakers. For example, it indicates the Giants finished 1st in 2010 even though we didn't make the playoffs :( )
This season marks the 8th season of Coughlin coaching the Giants, splitting his Head Coaching career exactly in half between the Jaguars and the Giants.
Vs. Washington Redskins
Coughlin lost his first two games vs the Redskins, but has been great vs them since. As coach of the Giants, he has never been swept by the Redskins, but has swept them four times (2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010), and currently has a six game winning streak.
Overall: 12-5
Jaguars: 1-2 (1997, 2000, 2002)
Giants: 11-3 (2004-2010 x2)
Coughlin vs. Shanahan
The two coaches have coached opposing teams in three different combinations: Jaguars vs. Broncos, Giants vs. Broncos, and Giants vs. Redskins. Overall, Coughlin has the better head to head record although Shanahan was the victor of the lone playoff game between the two in their first Head Coach jobs. Shanahan's last victory over Coughlin was in 1998, although only four games have been played between the two since (1999, 2005, and 2010 x2). (Format is Coughlin-Shanahan)
Overall: 5-3 (Includes playoff game)
Jaguars vs. Broncos: 2-2 (Includes playoff game)
Giants vs. Broncos: 1-0
Giants vs. Redskins: 2-0
Current Quarterbacks:
(Assuming Rex Grossman is starting QB for the Redskins)
Grossman was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2003 with the 22nd overall pick. Grossman has played for three different teams (Bears, Texans, and Redskins). Grossman has only started all 16 games once*, in 2006 for the Bears and played in the Super Bowl, losing to the Colts. His playoff record is 2-2. Surprisingly (for me), Grossman has only started 34 games in his 8 year career (a 20-14 record).
*Further research indicates that this was quite a feat, as he was the first Bears QB in 11 years to start all 16 games
Record v. Giants:
Overall: 1-2
Bears: 1-1 (2006, 2007,
Redskins: 0-1 (2010)
(All Games were vs. Eli Manning)
(note if John Beck gets the start, he is 0-4 with his last start for the Dolphins in 2007)
Manning was drafted by the 2004 with the first overall draft. Since Eli's first start in Week 11 of the 2004 season, Manning has not missed a game. His 110 consecutive starts (including 7 playoff games) tie him for fifth overall with Joe Ferguson. Manning has a 60-43 (.583) regular season record, with a 4-3 playoff record. Manning has made the Pro Bowl once (in 2008) and was the MVP of Super Bowl 42.
Record v. Redskins:
Overall: 10-3 (2004, 2005-2010 x2)
Fun Facts and Random Trivia
The Redskins have perhaps the most bizarre season ending injury in the history of the NFL. From wikipedia: "The other big loss for the Redskins that season occurred during a coin-tossing ceremony prior to a game against the Giants [in 1940]. After calling the coin toss and shaking hands with the opposing team captain, Turk Edwards attempted to pivot around to head back to his sideline. However, his cleats caught in the grass and his knee gave way, injuring him and bringing his season and career to an unusual end."
