Take The Points!!

When the lines came out on Monday Night's game, I was immediately shocked and took offense at the total disregard for our 2-0 start and obvious bias towards "America's Team".  Upon further review, however, I realized a few things about the line and exactly what it means.

First off, Vegas is a business.  They are not in it for bragging rights like a survivor league or office pool.  They make money, plain and simple.  Having said that, they had to get people to take the Redskins and despite our early success and obvious improvements, there is no way the rest of the country is buying in.  Take that and an obvious misconception of who the Cowboys really are and the infatuation with Romo and his "heroic" performance last week, and people are all over the Cowboys.  The Redskins have clearly been a better team through 6 weeks of football(including preseason) and should have their way with the Cowboys.  Convincing the public of that is clearly a different story.  If Vegas would have made the 'Skins a favorite or an even line, nobody but 'Skins fans would have taken them.  Thus, they really had to hedge on this one giving the 'Skins 6-7 points hoping the betting would even out some.

Second, as anyone who follows this team knows, these games are almost always close.  They usually come down to one or two plays that give one team or the other an edge.  It is a rarity that these games are a blowout, so 6 points seems an easy cover considering the 'Skins are a better team(see previous paragraph).  That and the fact that they are 4-2 against the spread @Dallas in the last six years makes this an obvious pick.

Finally, the main reason I would take the points is the plain and simple fact that the Redskins are going to DOMINATE this game.  After watching these two teams it is obvious who is better coached.  Jason Garrett's Cowboys look like the Redskins of the past number of years.  Costly penalties, untimely mistakes, under-utilized talent and all the things that reflect poor coaching have been on display during the first two weeks.  The Redskins, however, have looked very well coached, having very few penalties, timely play-making, talent plugged in at the right spot at the right time and all the things that reflect a great coaching job.  These things along with the obvious injury problems the Cowboys give this game all the makings of a dominating performance for the away team.

Here is to 3-0, dominating the Cowboys and as always, responsible gambling.

HTTR!!
